  • For the Love of Reading

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous contribution! My students were extremely excited to receive the new books, especially because it aligned with our study about immigration. Students were able to make connections with the characters in the book to how immigrants felt and were treated entering the United States.

Within my classroom, students and I read together to discuss specific skills to deepen their vocabulary and reading comprehension. Students were also allowed to read with a partner or independently. Students jotted down notes and different points in the story and participated in a group discussion.

Students are immersed in their books and do not want to put it down. Students look forwarded to the reading block and our time of D.E.A.R. when they can Drop Everything and Read.

Again, thank you for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Flexin' in 5th Grade

    Funded Aug 5, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations! Because of you, my students are using the bean bag chairs to work together in partnerships, especially during book club. Students love the laptop trays and use them when typing their essays or completing an assessment. The trays give them an opportunity to space out around the room and work independently on classroom assignments.

When students first heard about the flexible seating resources donated to our classroom, they were thrilled and excited to be know they would be able to work in other spaces around the room other than their desks! Students love the bouncing balls and it makes for great seating during small group instruction.

Without you, my students would be sitting at their desks in hard chairs all day! With these resources, my students are more engaged and eager to work cooperatively in groups during classroom assignments.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Love 2 Love Reading

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation towards our classroom library. My students have thoroughly enjoyed the ease of choosing a book just right for them. I teach my students to choose books they can read that are not too difficult, but not too easy either. It has to have just the right amount of complexity that it would challenge them without students loosing the meaning or understanding of what the book is about. Before your donation, students had to scrounge through our library looking for books. Now, they are able to choose books on their level or by genre.

Because of you, students now choose books and begin to read them immediately. They are able to see the different varieties of books they can choose from. I like for my students to read independently and enjoy it. The organization system that you have afforded me to set up in my classroom is making a huge impact on students' ability to enjoy reading a "good fit" book.

Again, on behalf of myself and my students, I want to say thank you for your generosity in helping build a love of reading in the lives of children.”

    Mrs. Williams

  • Rrrr is for Reading!

    Funded Dec 18, 2016

My class and I would like to thank you from the bottom our hearts for your generous donations towards our classroom project. With your help, I have exposed my students to the wonderful world of reading.

My class has learned a lot about character traits and point view through the use of the read-alouds from the books. My students are beginning to read chapter books and feel a sense of becoming older and more skillful because of the reading "chapters." It's rewarding to see them wanting to pick up a book 'just because'. Furthermore, the instructional games has also helped in developing my students' comprehension while reading. It is difficult for students to transition from learning to read to reading to learn, but with the assistance of the instructional games, it brings to life the skills I am teaching in my classroom.

Your generosity has made a huge impact on my students' learning and I see it in the assessments given. Thank you again for your support as I continue to foster a love of reading and comprehension for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Maximizing Learning

    Funded Oct 24, 2016

I can not begin to express my gratitude for your contribution to my classroom! My students were so excited when I told them we had been funded and were receiving classroom materials to help increase their learning.

The literature materials especially the reading and writing skills games really engage and help my students with specific reading skills. My English Language Learners are extremely engulfed in the writing skills games because it allows them to practice their language skills. These games give pictorial models while playing which helps my students say the words in English.

Furthermore, the math materials are helping my students because they are able to practice their math facts and other math skills they needed help with. I have discussed with my students the areas in math they need to continue to practice and knowing where and how the materials are set up, they are able to go to the specific game they need and practice. The materials also came with a way for students to self-check and peer check. They are so excited to take ownership of their own learning.

Our next steps for our classroom is to build our classroom library and set up a cozy place in our extended area in the classroom where students can delve into a great book and just read! My goal is to create an atmosphere where reading is exciting and engaging whether they are reading fictional or non-fictional books!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • First Graders: Gearing Up for Writing

    Funded Oct 21, 2015

I would like to genuinely thank you for your donation to my classroom! My students were absolutely astounded when they saw the materials you donated. They could not wait to begin using the materials.

My students use these materials for writing purposes. Each Monday I allow them to free write in their journal and draw a picture above their writing. On other days I allow students to publish their writing. I let them know that their journal will be something they will have forever. They can look back when they are older to see the writings and drawings they created. It was amazing for me to see how creative my students are, especially in their writing. With the writing prompts, students are able to choose what they want to write about and I allow them to let their creativity take them wherever they want to go!

My next steps for my students is to conduct a research project on landforms. They are currently using the writing area and materials to draft their book. Later, they will work to publish and complete their book to share at a culminating activity with parents!

Your generous donation has opened my students world up to the fun one can have when writing! They are eager to get to their journals, use the organizer, get writing ideas from the prompt, and most importantly; use the writing stand to show their classmates how "it's done!"

Thank you again for your support in helping me develop a love of writing for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Literacy Rocks!

    Funded Dec 19, 2014

I would like to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom! My students were beyond excited to hear about our materials being delivered and they were even more excited when the materials arrived at the school! My students are able to use these resources during small group time, in which they work with each other to segment and blend words. The picture cards really help my ESOL students understand how to blend sounds in the English language. This project helped me to reinforce the phonological awareness and phonetic skills I teach in class. My students are able to review skills they may be experiencing difficulty with. Since implementing these resources in my classroom, my students' Early Literacy scores have increased by 85%.

Please know that you have made a huge impact in the lives of my students. I greatly appreciate your willingness to help me assure my students' success in reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Technology....The New Age

    Funded Aug 10, 2012

It is with great appreciation I write this thank you note to you for your generous donation! The projector you donated is helping my students everyday! The projector has been used to show videos during math and it has served as an interactive tool for students to demonstrate their knowledge of skills being taught within the classroom.

Without your help my students would not have been able to experience learning to another degree. Being able to incorporate technology into their learning have increased student engagement within the classroom!

It is because of donors like you, children have the opportunity to enhance their learning and succeed!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • A Champion of Readers

    Funded Jan 21, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your contributions have made a great impact on my students. The books you helped to purchase have aided in enhancing my students reading skills. Students within my classroom have used the books to explore and identify idioms, recognize cause-effect relationships, and analyze characters within the stories.

Our classroom did not have a class set of books to conduct a book study. Without your help, my students would not have been afforded the opportunity to learn these skills with books of interest to them and on their grade level. Having grade level books to hone in on skills needed to succeed in reading is vital to students within third grade.

I am glad we have donors like you who care enough about children give for the advancement of their academic career.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

My students are lively and eager to learn. They often compete to turn in completed assignments. My classroom has homework and classwork bins I provided for completed assignments. It would be very beneficial for students to utilize other organizational tools within the classroom that will help them store important materials and assignments until it's due.
