Help Us Organize Our Classroom
Funded Oct 5, 2015Thank you so much for the materials you donated to our classroom. It has been such a great experience for our students and we are now so much more organized. Our class is functioning great! The easel you donated has provided small group instruction which has help so many of our students who are below grade level be successful in writing, math and reading and gain the confidence they need to be successful. As for the caddies, our students can now have easy access to daily materials that they need to be productive. The magazine organizer is help us organize our math materials and now students have ownership over their materials.
When the materials arrived our students were so excited to see what was in the many boxes that arrived to our classroom that afternoon. The next morning after we set everything up the students arrived to their new room with smiles so big, because they couldn't believe all the new materials we received. They enjoy that we have our very special easel in the back of the room and unlike other classrooms in the school we now have two easels so we can pull two small groups.
I know this only briefly goes into detail about the impact your donation was to our classroom. But we greatly appreciate all the support from you and thank you so much for your kind gifts.”

Reading is the Key to Knowledge
Funded Sep 28, 2014You cannot image how happy all twenty- six, 5 year olds were when they received multiple boxes containing secret gifts! All they wanted to know what was inside and could not wait to open them. As soon as I opened them and set everything up the students were amazed at how they could enjoy listening and reading some of their favorite books with a friend. Now every day, every student wants to read and can't wait for their turn in our classroom reading nook.
They couldn't believe how some of my close friends, family and strangers bought things for their classroom to help them continue to grow as readers. Even some of students who struggle with English and just came to the country are excited to go to the reading nook and can't wait for their turn.
We are using all the resources in many ways. First the centers for up to 4 students are being used daily to increase word play during word study. These games have helped our class so much with learning not only how to read but how to write. You can not imagine how much growth my students have shown since the use of these centers. For the listening center every day during Readers Workshop or Wordstudy students have the opportunity with a partner or by themselves to choose a book and read this book and follow along with the cd. This has helped so many of our readers increase their love for reading as well as increase their confidence in being great readers.
After receiving these materials it has changed our classroom so much. It has helped out all learners in my classroom. Every single student is determined to read and become a reader and a writer. It has shown what something so great can do to impact the learning of a child. This project has allowed me to build confidence in each one of my students.”
