  • Let's Get Organized!

    Funded Aug 12, 2023

Thank you so much for your most thoughtful and generous donation. These items for not only help this year's students, they will help students for years to come. Creating a warm and organized environment where students are happy to come and eager to learn, and will be much easier with these donations!

The baskets and trays are wonderful for helping the students keep up with all their supplies. And the motivational items have actually been encouragement for some students to come to school! Having these items has lessened some students anxiety and brings a smile to all our faces! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Word

  • Starting the Days Off Right!

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

Your generosity is noticed! These items continue to be useful for helping our students start their day in a relaxing, positive manner.

Mornings are hard! But when my students arrive, they have choices to decide what will help them start their day off right. The soft start items you provided allow the kids to choose a relaxing activity to do on their own or with friends. They can visit or sit quietly. Whichever they choose, they can let go of the morning stressors they might have encountered.

These items will be organized, well cared for and enjoyed for years to come!”

    Mrs. Word

  • Growing With Games

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation of learning games and learning activities for our classroom. These games and activities have been used to enhance our classroom learning from the moment we got them. We have learned some life lessons in how to play kindly, take turns, lose a game gracefully and how to be a humble winner.

We had so much fun unboxing all the items! The students even helped to get all the new items ready for use! They opened items, read set-up directions, prepared games for use and shared directions. I was so proud of how they worked together to be able to enjoy the new items!”

  • Let's Plank

    Funded Jun 11, 2018

We had so much fun building with the Structure planks. I was able to share these with over 200 third graders on a STEM rotation day. I now have enough of these resources that each group could have enough to really explore with them.

This was the introductory lesson for the students, so freestyle building was the focus. Each group had plenty of planks to build individual structures and then build as a team. We even added a marble as an additional challenge! Future lessons will be more goal oriented.

Thank you again for your generous donations. We are all truly grateful!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Word

  • Let's Build a Bridge(and other cool stuff)!

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Thank you again for supporting our classroom with your generous donation. Match Day was a huge success for our entire school. I have included some pictures of my students exploring and free building with the discovery kits your donation provided us. They built chairs, houses and even a person that stands on its own. In the near future, we will be building free standing bridges, skyscrapers and we might even try to construct a catapult to fly cotton-balls. These kits allow the students to think creatively, be an architect and and engineer. They work together to problem solve and they are so proud of their accomplishments. I am happy to be able to foster these skills and appreciate your support!”

  • Bringing Math to Life with Literature!

    Funded Dec 31, 2016

I want to take the time to say thank you again for your most generous donation(s).

This is my very first Donors Choose project and I could hardly believe it was funded! Needless to say, my excitement has carried over to all my math students and even my co-workers as we have shared one of the books that came in my Math Start Book pack. The students loved the first story and instantly made the correlation between the story and the skill we are practicing currently(money)!! Instant success!!

I am in the process of making worksheets to slide inside the folders we received for the students to practice facts and other skills. They are excited to use a marker to do their work! I am excited to save paper!!!

I hope that enjoy and story and pictures to come:) I also hope that when you are able, you continue to bless others teachers they way you have blessed me!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Word

All students love to listen to a fun story, especially in MATH class! We will use the mathematical literature to create connections from text to math to everyday life. Nothing gets a math students attention like a read aloud by their math teacher! I will bring math to life by sharing a good book with a child! Each book opens the door for a new math topic. Those topics can then be practiced in a fun "paper pocket." Instead of the typical "worksheet" we can use these pockets to conserve paper usage and "change up" the way students practice skills.
