Unfortunately this school year has brought many challenges, but I'm lucky enough to be teaching in person. One of the challenges we face is having enough math activities for students to do independently while I am teaching small group math. Students are unable to share games and they have to be "quarantined" before they can be played again. This has led to a need for more activities that are easily accessible.
This project would allow for more engaging activities for students to work on when not with a teacher. The counting money, place value, and math equivalency puzzles will allow student to self-check their work after completing the puzzles independently.
The Math Instant Learning Centers offer 8 different topics(understanding fractions, problem solving, elapsed time, algebraic thinking, comparing numbers, addition and subtraction strategies, beginning multiplication, & number sense). Each center allows for 4 children to play at a time. This would give students the opportunity to work hands on with the topics we cover in our classroom
This project would give my students this year and the years to come the opportunity to be more hands on while practicing their math skills in a variety of areas.
