I have 12 students with disabilities at a school in the Bronx. My school serves a population of students with moderate to severe disabilities. Their disabilities are Autism, Speech and Language Impairments, and Intellectual disabilities. I have 3 non-verbal students who require picture symbols for communication. Although my students carry these disabilities I believe they can learn literacy and math skills that can help them become independent members of society in the future.
