The skills required of students in the 21st Century are different than in the past. Students need to be able to problem solve, think critically, ask questions and collaborate. Our classroom Makerspace gives students a chance to do just that. Enhancing our Makerspace with programmable robots, 3Doodler pen, computer coding kits, iPad for coding apps, Legos and planks for building and a stop-motion animation studio will give students an opportunity to explore the literature we are reading in class in a way that integrates science, technology, engineering and math. Students will also have an opportunity to create stories using the enhanced Makerspace, and to explore science concepts in depth.
Your donation to this project will give students an opportunity to be creative learners in a space that teaches them to have a growth mindset and to persevere in the face of challenge. A 3Doodler pen will allow students to create a tangible representation of the theme in the novels they are reading, or to develop characters and props for their own creative stories to use in our stop-motion animation studio. The stop-motion animation studio will help students bring their reading and writing to life by creating their own movies. The programmable robots, iPads, and computer coding kits will give students an opportunity to learn the art of writing computer code. Finally, the Legos and building planks will give students an opportunity to model the stories we are reading and writing in class as well as to tackle more challenging engineering problems. All Makerspace projects will help students to learn and develop the valuable communication skills.
Makerspaces also make school more interesting, engaging, and FUN for students. This project will change students' lives, and the world, by ensuring students have the skill set needed for the future.
