Digging Into Owl Pellets!
Funded Sep 30, 2015Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for the donation you made to our classroom. Donations are always a great asset especially when they provide a hands-on experience for my students. Your donation of owl pellets provided a wonderful learning experience for my students.
We began our fall thematic unit with an introduction to owls. The children were so excited to learn many interesting facts about owls and to share many different fall books. Of course, the owl pellets were the highlight of the entire unit. Dissecting the owl pellets was especially exciting. Many of the students were reluctant to touch the pellets at first, but after a few minutes, they were digging in! Parents were also invited to participate and many of them had no idea what an owl pellet actually was. The children delighted in teaching their parents!
Thanks again for your donation. Donors like you have made my classroom a more interesting and exciting place. Again, I appreciate your kindness and your generosity.”

Fiddler Fun
Funded Dec 7, 2012Thank you so much for funding my project, Fiddler Fun. Indeed, we have had lots of fun with our fiddler crabs. The children love to interact and simply watch the crabs race sideways all around the aquarium. They have learned so much from their observations!
The children are responsible for the daily maintenance and general care of the crabs. I believe this teaches them an invaluable lesson about responsibility and learning to love and respect living things. They have also learned many interesting facts about fiddler crab habitats, the purpose and many uses for their large claws, and how to tell the difference between the males and females by checking out their claws...Fun Times!
Thanks again for your donation. You have truly blessed our classroom and we appreciate you.”

Nonfiction Fun
Funded Feb 20, 2013Thank you so much for funding my project, Nonfiction Fun. We have had lots of fun with our materials and are looking forward to even more learning experiences. Nonfiction resources provide so many opportunities for student learning.
The extra-large animal replicas are very well made and painted with amazing detail and accuracy. The children enjoyed the farm animals when we did our farm theme a few weeks ago. They were a perfect addition to our daily lessons. We look forward to using the rest of the animals with our zoo and pet themes.
Thanks again for your generous donation. You have made a lasting impact on our classroom and all of the bright, little minds that live there! Thanks again.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Green
Scholastic
Funded Feb 20, 2012Thank you so much for funding our subscription to Scholastic. I truly believe that nonfiction selections benefit young readers immensely. The Scholastic booklets provide the students with so many great facts about animals, the human body, and of course, our world. Many of the topics featured in Scholastic match perfectly with our weekly themes. Recently, we had a booklet about nocturnal animals shortly after we had studied several animals that we classified as nocturnal. The children were so excited to see many of the facts that they already knew in the magazine. What a great way to reinforce our themes and learn nonfiction facts! Thanks again for funding our project. You have truly made a difference in our classroom and student learning! ”

Haven for Hermit Crabs
Funded Oct 23, 2011Thank you so much for buying hermit crabs for our classroom. The children have really enjoyed observing them in their aquarium home. Each day, they make sure they have enough food and water which helps them assume a great sense of responsibility. They were also able to witness the "changing of the shells" when one particular crab outgrew his shell. They were very excited to actually see this process take place. The children have named several of them and call the largest one "Big Bubba."
Thanks again for your generous contribution to our classroom. The children have greatly benefited from your donation. I am also very grateful to you and I know the hermit crabs will continue to provide happiness to my students.”

Funded Jan 22, 2011Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. I cannot begin to tell you what a difference Donors Choose has made in my classroom. Donors Choose has given me an opportunity to receive much needed supplies to make my classroom a wonderful place to learn and grow.
With your help, I will be able to provide my students with a wonderful unit on the life cycles of plants and animals. Children are always so excited to see real plants and animals grow and change!

Funded Oct 7, 2010Thank you so much for your donation. Many of our funding resources have been cut this year so I was facing the grim reality that my owl pellets would have to be put on hold. NOT!! Thanks to you, we will be able to complete our thematic unit on owls and dissect owl pellets in January. This is one of my favorite projects and I am sure my students will enjoy it also.
Donors Choose has been such a blessing to my students and me. Many projects that would have ordinarily been put on hold have been able to become a reality in my classroom. When I look around my room, materials purchased through Donors Choose sit on practically every shelf. My students love hands-on activities which means extra money. Thanks to your help, I have been able to add many hands-on materials to my classroom. Thanks again for your donation and Hoot! Hoot! We Love Owls!”
