My students come from a high poverty area and our class supply list is very limited. In the beginning of the year I ask that all students bring in a notebook, a folder and some pencils. I usually just wind up giving most of them a notebook and each day pencils and pens are in high demand. At this time of year, my original supply of colored pens and expo markers have slowly run dry. Our original low quality dry erase sheets are also in need of replacement. We need to re-stock and bring them back to the classroom. When my students have full access to a basket of colored pens at their work station, their notes are more likely to be taken and their creativity has a chance to shine. My students take a lot of pride in their notebooks and often challenge each other about whose notebook is the best. Also, when students are given access to white boards and expo markers to do their work on, they are more productive than if they are simply required to work with paper and pencil. My students are eager to learn and they are always asking if they can use color or if they can work on a dry erase board but our initial bulk of supplies are running low and we need help. We are also coming up to our measurement and scaling lessons and we are in serious need of some good quality rulers.
