  • Taking Care of Timpani

    Funded Sep 7, 2017

I just want to take a moment and thank each and every one of you for your kind donations to our project. Because of you, we now have three brand new timpani covers in our classroom to help protect our timpani. Timpani are some of our most valuable instruments so protecting this was at the utmost importance in our class.

The moment I placed the covers on the instruments and the students walked in their faces lit up. Even though it's "just a cover" it means so much more to them and me. It's pride. It's pride in our program, our school and our equipment. If my students can learn anything from this project its to take care of what you hold valuable. Hopefully we can continue to fund projects such as these that help make our band better and better.

You each make such a big difference in student's lives and we can't ever thank you enough for that.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sirmeyer

  • Thinking Inside the Box

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

Wow!! What a difference this donation has made for our band program! Our students were so excited to receive these music boxes and we immediately got to work on our music library organizing and filing music. Now our music will last much longer and we have made room for many more pieces we will purchase in the future. So, thank you for giving us this amazing opportunity. It is people like you that truly make a difference in our world and give our students people to look up to. I hope one day they can "pay it forward" and becoming people who make a difference just like you all. Thank you so much!”

  • Band... Aids.

    Funded Oct 4, 2016

    Hello donors,

I want to thank each and every one of you who showed support for my students by donating to our recent project. It is because of great and selfless people like you that allows our program to run smoothly and for each student to have equal opportunity to be their very best.

Because of the items donated we are now able to provide students in financial strife with resources to better allow them to perform in class and never miss a day of playing. Also, I am now able to help with small repairs on instruments on instruments instead of sending them to a repair shop. This helps us keep instruments (and money) in the classroom!

The students have noticed the generosity coming from our donors and you can already tell the pride they now carry for our program. When they see others caring it makes them care too. Recently they did their very own fundraising to get an instrument they wanted and cheered when the funds were met. I hope that this inspires them to grow up to be giving individuals as each of you were. You have inspired me and my students and we are forever grateful.”

  • And All the Jazz!

    Funded May 11, 2015

I just wanted to take a moment and thank each of you for helping us raise funds to purchase the remaining jazz band books needed for our class set. I am excited about using them this year with the students. Every April we have Jazz Appreciation Month and now each of my classes will not only get to learn about jazz in the classroom but will actually not get to PERFORM it. The kids are going to be so excited!

Because of people like you we are able to have a strong, supported music program in our school. I can't thank you enough for your contribution. Running a large band program is not easy and having a enough funds for items such as these can sometimes be difficult but it's through your generosity we can make it possible. I couldn't do it without you so thank you so much for being a blessing to my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sirmeyer

  • Oh, Say Can You...See Your Music?

    Funded Mar 17, 2015

I want to take a moment and thank you all for your donations to our project to help purchase flip folders and lyres for my students so they could perform at the Orlando Magic game. The students were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity and they did such a fantastic job at their performance. Many people came up to our students and congratulated them on their performance. Not only were they commended on their playing abilities but many were impressed with their overall behavior as well. You can definitely say that our school was well represented!!

The students each were given lyres and flip folders so that they were able to see their music during their performance and they worked like a charm. Without this equipment the students would have had to memorize the piece and with such a large audience and with a song that is so important we wanted to make sure there were no errors. In the end the performance was pretty fantastic and we were told it was one of the BEST performances of the Star Spangled Banner this year.

Performing the National Anthem at a large event like this will create memories for my students that they will never forget. The joy I saw in their eyes and the excitement they expressed was so wonderful to see. It was also lovely to see the delight of the parents that came to the event. They had a great deal of pride in their kids. Playing the national anthem is such a big deal for students. It is a song that has such much more meaning behind it than most pieces. Thank you for helping my students perform their best. It will be something we all will never forget.”

    With gratitude,

  • Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded Sep 26, 2014

It is with sincere gratitude that I write you this message letting you know how thankful both me and my students are here at Freedom Middle School. What a difference your donation has made in our classroom! The students were so excited as they watched the items come in and get put together. Each day another element was added until finally the system was ready and we made our first recording. It was a lot different than me recording it on my cell phone and in a VERY good way!!

We use our recording equipment to help with lessons and preparing for our concerts here. The playbacks allow for students to evaluate themselves, fix mistakes, and try it over again. It has definitely made an improvement in our student's listening abilities and performance qualities.

I can't tell you enough how pleased I am to know that the world is still filled with such kind and generous people. That is another lesson in itself for my students. I hope that your kindness spreads into their own hearts so that they may give back one day to others as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sirmeyer

  • Hit Record!

    Funded Nov 13, 2013

I just wanted to send a note to you all and let you know how thrilled my students were to start using the digital voice recorders in the classroom. After receiving a short lesson on how to use the recorders my students starting working on projects where they were to record each other performing. After that the students will then get to listen to each other's performances on the sound system in the classroom and evaluate each other. It's amazing the progress students are able to make when they can actually hear their performances the way that others can hear their performance.

In the classroom we are always striving for ways for students to use more technology in the classroom and sometimes it is hard to incorporate this in the band room. So, this is a great way for students to incorporate technology and also have fun at the same time. When watching students interact with the digital recorders I saw them striving to do their best because they knew that others would be listening to their recordings and giving feedback. It literally was boosting their motivation immediately. And as a teacher you are constantly wanting to come up with new ways to motivate your students. I was so pleased to see them work so diligently.

I want to thank you for donating to this project for my students. It means a lot to all of us to know there are people out there like you that truly make a difference. You are an inspiration to my students and if any lesson can be taken from this project then I hope that compassion is one of them. I am so pleased that you have given us the opportunity to explore new teaching opportunities in the classroom and I look forward to watching the continuing growth of my students.”

  • Makin' Copies

    Funded Aug 10, 2012

    Dear Donors,

It is with the upmost greatest gratitude that I thank you for helping us receive a copy machine for our program here at FMS. With budget cuts left and right it can be a difficult task even to make copies of music. It is because of people like you that our program can be successful and that the students can start showing pride in our program.

When we first got the copy machine the students were almost shocked to know that it had been donated. I think some of them might forget that we live in a world where goodness exists. Your kindness definitely will inspire them to do good in the future. You are doing more than donating a copy machine... you are igniting young minds.

Thank you once again! You are now officially honorary panthers! You are keeping the music alive.”

    With gratitude,

  • In the Need for REEDS!

    Funded Mar 8, 2012

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your kind contributions to our band program. The reeds that you donated helped students in need be able to better participate in all classroom activities. Each student was given one reed and could "apply" to receive more if they needed.

As you know, many people are facing financial strife. Thankfully there are still kind people out in the world like you. Not only are you helping my students with the materials they need for my class but you are also giving them a great example for helping others!

Thank you for making the arts a priority in our schools. Thank you for making a difference and having a positive impact on my children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sirmeyer

    Funded Sep 3, 2008

I want to thank everyone who helped fund our metronome project! How exciting that I get to do my job as a conductor and my students will better grasp the concept of time! This metronome will be used DAILY in my classroom so know that your contribution is getting good use =) It's because of thoughtful people like you that makes my job the best and keeps the arts alive! Thank you from all of us here at Kissimmee Middle School!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sirmeyer
