  • Runoff Roundup: Investigating Erosion and Weathering

    Funded Oct 19, 2010

My class, my co-workers, and I greatly appreciate your generosity. Each of our 3 fifth grade classes has used the runoff tables. I truly believe that the increase in my student's understanding of erosion and its effects is due to the hands-on experiences that you helped to provide for them. We look forward allowing our future classes to investigate and experiment with the effects of erosion and deposition. Again, we greatly appreciate all you do to help our future leaders.

By investing in our children and their understanding of science concepts, you are helping to build future scientists and leaders. The more in-depth their learning and understanding is at early ages, the greater impact they will have in the future for making advancements and improvements in our world.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Horner

This classroom project was brought to life by Burroughs Wellcome Fund and 2 other donors.
  • Flash Me Now

    Funded Feb 20, 2007

Thank you so very much for your generosity. I am so excited to tell my class about our supplies that are on the way. I have already planned on using them for so many things. Finally, everyone will be able to participate at the same time and have fun without being embarrassed to get the wrong answers. I will be able to quickly assess each child and know who needs additional help easily. Again, thank you so very much”

  • ADD Defeater

    Funded Sep 25, 2006

Thank you so very much. Classrooms are hectic places, but in order to teach effectivly we have to spend time one-on-one and in small groups. Having a "wall" to put up will greatly cut down on some of the distractions. In addition, coming to work with the techer is going to seem like a privilege, to sit inside the "special room". I am so excited and appreciative. I look forward to using it each day!

    Gratefully,

    Mrs. ”

  • Too High Overhead

    Funded Dec 28, 2004

Thank you so much for helping out our cause. It is so difficult to keep students interest in the lessons that we teach. Using the overhead is a much more exciting way for them to demonstrate what they know and do. Using the chalkboard as we did when I was in school is just to "outdated" for this generation of students. The overhead is "cool" to them. They don't know how old they really are. The bad thing was that all of our overheads and carts were so high that is was difficult for small 1st graders to reach. This will be such a great after Christmas gift to my class. Thank you very much for your generosity”

  • Reading for all

    Funded Apr 30, 2004

Thank you very much for your generosity. The students in my class will greatly benefit from the big book stand and big books. It will make my lessons much more presentable and effective. I am very excited about receiving it. It will be put to use the very first day of school when we return from summer vacation. Again, thank you very much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Horner

My day consists of working with 84 wonderful fifth graders. I block teach with two other teachers. I am responsible for teaching the science and social studies curriculum. I have found that our local fifth graders are not very local. Since social studies is not a "tested" subject in our area, it often gets pushed aside. My students are eager to learn and to broaden their horizons. I hope you will be able to assist me in my goals for them. I dream that they will develop and broaden their knowledge outward from just our local community and realize the impact they can have on our global community.
