Everything counts in large amounts! Our 12-student kindergarten class is located in a high-need, urban community in New York. We are a public school exclusively serving the needs of special education students. All 12 of the students in our class have been clinically diagnosed with mental retardation. Students in our class experience severe communication and language-processing delays, and several students are nonverbal. In addition to the services of a special education teacher, our students require the assistance of speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy on a daily basis.
