On the first day of school, I love to watch the faces of my students as they look at the books they are able to borrow from the classroom library. They say... "I've never seen so many books." "We can take these home to read?" "You have so many books!" I nod proudly and watch their reactions as they visit the classroom library for the first time. Our school is pretty small in comparison to most "city" schools. We do have a school library but it is not up and running due to budget cuts and restaffing. I am committed to sharing my love for reading with every one of my students each year.
