  • Listen to Learn: Learn to Listen

    Funded Feb 2, 2023

We are beyond thankful for your support and the new addition to our classroom. We have found the perfect spot on our door to store our headphones and make them accessible to not only our classroom but to all 3 fifth grade classes.

We are able to use them daily and for every reading class. We utilize them while working on an online phonics program that improves reading skills in all areas. We also use them for independent reading and occasionally for games during free time.

This has made such a difference in the way students learn and how we teach. We can work in small groups and literacy centers thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jasso-Nunez

  • Crafting All the Way!

    Funded Jan 17, 2023

We are so thankful for your support and contribution to our "Crafting All The Way" project. Students were so excited to see all the crafting materials we received including water color paints, foam shapes, paper, glue, gems, and actual paint brushes and paint.

We have been able to make monthly craft projects that include a kindness tree, art therapy paintings, soon we'll be making Cinco de Mayo decorations for the hallway and school celebration!

It makes a big difference to have materials available to enhance our curriculum in all areas. Again we thank you for your support!”

  • Print My Story

    Funded Feb 25, 2022

Thank you for giving our amazing students a printer to be able to print and share our stories with our families, friends and teachers!

Our students are becoming authors and illustrators of their own stories. These stories include what they've learned through the units of study and the connections to the real world.

My students have a creative imagination that reflects on the stories they come up with during writing activities. We use technology as a resource to enhance our stories by drawing pictures to illustrate our books. And all this is possible because of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jasso-Nunez

  • All You Need Is A Book

    Funded Jun 21, 2022

Thank you for giving my students a library full of books that has all the level appropriate books you need to satisfy advancing readers!

This library consists of labeled bins that contain leveled books selected according to subject, structure and vocabulary. This will make it easy to apply differentiate instruction strategies when we work in small groups daily.

Fostering the love for reading will be so much easier now that we can count on having a variety of books at different lexile levels in our library.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jasso-Nunez

  • Mobilizing Our Reading

    Funded Jun 27, 2022

We appreciate your support in helping our class purchase a mobile library cart. This has helped so much in the way we organize our books. They are organized by lexile level which makes it easier for students to select books that they can read at their level.

Each level is labeled so students can access the books easily and also place them back where they belong.

Students have also been able to use the bins individually to store preferred books to read during independent reading time or books that coincide with the unit theme.

Having the mobile library cart has been very helpful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jasso-Nunez

  • Good Books Make Good Readers

    Funded Nov 13, 2022

We are so thankful for your support in donating to our classroom library! We have themes like Creating a Strong Community and Shaping and Forming Our Identities that are part of our curriculum. We are slowly but surely filling our bookshelves with books that enhance our units of study for this school year !

For starters we incorporate the love for reading by having independent reading conferences with a group of students on a daily basis. They had to sign up and pick a date to meet with me once a week. This has become one of the most important routines of the day. By having book titles that are themed based allows students options for reading and learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jasso-Nunez
