Early Readers Help Early Learners!
Funded Oct 3, 2024Our young library patrons were so excited to receive new books!
Our request contained books that were appropriate for our youngest learners. Instilling a love to read in the early primary grades is essential. These are the most formative academic years. The books provided through the generosity of the donors are highly engaging and contain characters that the students absolutely LOVE! This creates an eagerness in them to continue on their reading journey.
My students and I are so appreciative of others who desire to help us become better readers!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Parker

Funded May 20, 2023After teaching 10 years in a 3rd grade classroom, I was excited to begin my first year as a library media specialist. In addition to fostering a love for reading, my role also includes enhancing technology skills to aid in STEM related activities in the classroom. With this funding, I have been able to purchase some technology related lessons from TeachersPayTeachers.
Specifically, we began the year by purchasing some basic keyboarding lessons and materials. Most of our students are new to the proper keyboarding techniques. They were so excited to dive in and learn all about home row through a color-coding activity and real-life typing practice.
I consistently hear them comment on how they are eager to type faster and more accurately so this will be an ongoing objective. In addition, we will soon begin learning how to use applications such as Google Docs and Google Slides in classroom presentations.
My students and I are very humbled and thankful for the donors who have made these learning experiences possible!”

Funded Jun 27, 2020I am extremely grateful for your donation through DonorsChoose! This donation allowed me to purchase a set of lap desks for my 3rd grade students. We are using these in a variety of ways. They are most helpful in distancing my kids around the room while still giving them a surface to work on. They are portable, so we can take them to various areas in our school as we complete projects. My students use them daily in math when it is important to move close to see our SmartBoard. Once our "normal" returns, I also plan to have students use them when working in groups throughout our classroom and school.
Without your donation, we would not have received this resource in our room. My kids were so excited when they arrived. Your kindness has made a difference in our classroom!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Parker
3rd Grade Learners' Quest for Tablets!
Funded Jan 12, 2016Dear Donors,
Earlier this year, our third grade classroom was able to purchase new Kindles, keyboards, and cases thanks to donations made by you. Once receiving the equipment, the students began to use them immediately in a variety of ways. Prior to the Kindles we had a limited number of desktop computers for the students to share. The Kindles allowed each student to have their own device. We use this technology to expand our knowledge of content subjects as well as for daily practice in math and reading. In addition, we use the Kindles for research during our ecosystems unit in Science. Students have also been able to use the Kindles to access our reading assessment program which helps them advance towards their quarterly reading goal.
My students were actively engaged throughout the DonorsChoose project. I read my application for the grant to them and we periodically checked our progress using our classroom Smartboard. When we received the shipment of these products, the students were ecstatic! I feel that my students were most excited that they could complete assignments and not have to wait on their peers to finish with the computers. This allowed them to work more independently while still collaborating on what they were each learning.
My entire class loves to use this new technology. However, I feel that my tutoring students have benefited a great deal from these donations. These select students stay after school for tutoring sessions. Using the Kindles during this time has allowed me to make this intervention more meaningful and fun for them. In turn, the students are more engaged and content is better retained.
My classroom is a better learning environment as a result of receiving the Kindles, keyboards, and cases. Without programs such as DonorsChoose and willing contributors like yourself, this opportunity would not have been possible.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Parker
