  • Cozy Classroom Carpet

    Funded Nov 22, 2019

We can’t thank you enough for funding our project! The students will be thrilled! The carpet we currently have is old and quite filthy. Looking forward to new opportunities for learning ahead on our new magic carpet! Can’t wait to share the news with the children on Monday! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zaphiris

  • Positive Words=Positive Days!

    Funded May 3, 2019

We cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of t-shirts and heat transfer vinyl! Your kind and caring hearts have allowed us to make some super-cool and trendy t-shirts with positive words and phrases that the children wear throughout the day.

When chosen to wear a specially made t-shirt, the children's eyes light up! It makes them feel special and proud, which is the first step in learning and being open to new material!

Thank you for caring about our students and spreading happiness to the children in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zaphiris

  • Comfy Kiddos Learn Better!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

We cannot begin to describe how your thoughtfulness and generosity has impacted our classroom! As it is, many of our students have a difficult time learning new concepts and staying focused during class lessons. However, thanks to your generosity, our students are able to complete their work, while being comfortable and getting out some stored up energy.

We were blown away to receive the email that stated that our project was fully funded! We knew that the materials we had requested were purposeful, and that they would truly make a difference. We were right.

During their independent work, the students truly enjoy getting to choose their flexible seats, and they feel more comfortable to be productive. The yoga ball chairs allow for the students to release energy while getting their work done. The stationary cyclers allow children to channel their energy into something while they complete their reading. (Most of the children in our class don't have the luxury of owning a bicycle - so this is the next best thing for them!) The noise reducing headphones have been wonderful for those students whose tolerance for loud sounds is low, and for those students with sensory issues. Considering our students work so hard all day-every day, the new, ultra quiet pencil sharpeners have been a terrific addition to our classroom.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity! You have made a HUGE difference for our classroom and the hundreds of children who will be lucky enough to benefit from your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zaphiris

We are hoping for some additional flexible seating options for our Special Education and General Education Students, in the hopes that their comfort will lead them to be more successful students. Even as grown ups, it is difficult to remain seated for 6 hours a day - how on Earth can we expect 6 and 7 year olds to do so! We have introduced the concept of flexible seating to our students as they do their independent and group work. The idea is that all of us learn differently, and we will all be more productive if we are in an environment that is comfortable for us. Many students work well while sitting on a stool, leaning on a standing desk, and while working their core while sitting atop an excercise ball. Through using DonorsChoose, we are hoping to expand our seating options to allow our students even more flexibility!
