Thank you so much for all your donations! I can’t wait to have brand new, well built bookcases to house my extensive classroom library. My students will have a space that is warm and welcoming for browsing and reading books. I can’t wait to share pictures with you!”

  • Student Engagement Elevated with Flexible Seating!

    Funded Jul 13, 2019

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your generous to donations to my flexible seating project. My students are using the flexible seating options daily, during center time. They have the opportunity to choose a flexible seating option that allows them to work in a way that is comfortable for them. They are learning to use the seating options responsibly and safely.

I was lucky enough to have the flexible seating options delivered to me before the school year started. When my students walked in the first day of school I could see the excitement and the curiosity in their eyes. The flexible seating options were introduced gradually starting at the end of September and they were very eager for each one to be introduced.

As the year progresses I hope to be able to use these flexible seating options a lot more and not just during center time. My hope is that individual students who need movement options in seating will use them as needed to self-regulate their bodies. Thank you again for your generous donation. My students and I greatly appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gregg

A good portion of my math and literacy blocks are center based with my students working independently for about 30 minutes. Currently in my classroom their only choice of seating is in their chair at the table. I have found that my students are not engaged in their work, due to being stuck sitting where they sit for whole group instruction. Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning and make choices appropriate for them. Throughout the day, during independent work time, students will have the opportunity to choose a location around the room that works best for them. I am requesting wobble chairs and cushions, floor seats, and lap desks. My hope is that students will be more engaged in their work and less disruptive when given the choice of where to work.
