  • Nonreaders Can Learn to Read Also

    Funded Feb 6, 2025

Your generous support has provided an engaging resource for the students to get out of their seats and proceed to the whiteboard during Reading time. The students have challenges with identifying the main idea/ theme and the design of the CLOZE reading along with passages that are not that lengthy provide the appropriate presentation to provide to the students.

The students enjoy the format of the lessons and also enjoy being selected to read and lead the questions from the worksheets. The enjoyment of being "Teacher" strengthens their resolve to work harder.

Thank you for being a supporter.”

  • New and Improved Recess Time

    Funded Apr 26, 2025

Thank you for your assistance in having students get out of the seats to stimulate the muscles with the mind outside of the classroom. Please know that their smiles were created by you and they will put forth maximum effort not only for recess, but as they prepare for the Olympic Games.”

  • Leap into Learning

    Funded Feb 29, 2024

The Leap into Learning exceeded the dreams of the Team. The microscopes, I can not say enough. They propelled the students to success by achieving proficiency on their end of grade test for 8th grade Science. The microscopes were so interactive and engaging that students welcomed the chance to explore when it was their turn (my apologies to the students for not ordering enough).

Now the title of the project " Leap into Learning" takes us to the LeapPads. The girls were more engaged than the boys with the LeapPads. The Boys favored the OSMO Genius. They stated they felt more like a scientist and worked in pairs to engage. The LeapPads and the OSMO Genius glorified the vision of have the students collaborate to Problem Solve, identify how to provide evidence , and lastly, increase and provide rigor.”

  • S.T.E.M Action Rules

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

How AWESOME you are in providing tools for S.T.E.M action rules. that engaged with hands on activities, moved around the room, worked together as teams and enjoyed not having to sit in a chair for learning.

The solar system project was a huge success. It fell in line with the pacing guide for 6th grade and provided reinforcement to the 7th and 8th graders who did not have this activity last year. The average score from in the class testing was 80%.

Students could not wait to see a volcano erupt. They were so eager to engage and learn. The students provided a strong performance on their teacher made tests when asking questions about the different activities. Class average was 90%. The males were the most happy to engage with the Lego Race Cars but the girls did a better job.

    Many thanks for supporting us.”

  • Hands On Classroom Learning Stations

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

The students were so EXCITED when they went to the office to pic up their packages. Upon returning to the room, they decided to create a space on the shelf to organize their materials for hands on engagement. It was great to see how the students problem solve to organize and place the materials is a logical arrangement based on needs.

In addition to their excitement, the students have voted on how much time each day is devoted to hands on engagement. You got to love the democratic process that these students are undertaking.”

  • Techonolgy Engagement for Daily Lving Skills

    Funded May 11, 2023

The students have passionately been engaging on their tech. They enjoy using the cash registers with their menu items to determine the costs of food as various fast food restaurants.

The students were in awe at the different types of registers they had to use for engagement. Hands on engagement with technology is their favorite activity. The impact has been amazing as they have taken the usage of tech and transferred it to the usage of a calculator.

The success of this project can be recognized through testing data as 75% of the students earned proficiency in math.”

  • Learning With Hands On/ Hands Off Rewards

    Funded Feb 20, 2022

Students hands on engagement contributed to more energy in the class and more participation. Students enjoyed getting out of the seats and working together to problem solve. These tools you provided increased socialization and encouraged the students who do not verbalize as much to participate and break their shell. Students have requested more hands on engagement activities which staff is hurriedly identifying to meet their needs.

Donors, you have made realization of Dreams coming True for this self- contained teacher of students with severe needs who proved that with support, they can produce and go beyond.

Your support for Team Incredibles produced the following results:

End of Grade scores for 8th grade science went from 10% to 25%

End of Grade scores for Reading/ ELA went from 35% to 60%

End of Grade score for Math went from 10% to 33%.

I was recognized by NC Department of Public Instruction as Educator of Excellence for '22/'23 for Durham Public Schools.

High Salutations and looking forward to future support.”
