In Search of Marine Diversity
Funded Apr 5, 2013This has been the most wonderful experience for my students. They were truly amazed with the ocean and the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport.
Words cannot express our gratitude for your generosity. You have given our students the experience of a lifetime and introduced them to a world they had never seen. Many of them now hope to become marine biologists, and they all want to become better stewards of our planet.
These students are using the information, photos and video clips to prepare Photo Story 3 presentations to share with our school board, other classes and civic groups. We can all be proud.
Thank you so much.”

Funded Oct 25, 2011Your grant helped my students make their idea a reality. The Chinquapin Labyrinth Garden is unique and invites all students in grades Pre-K through 12 and the general public to walk the labyrinth and learn more about the endangered Ozark Chinquapin tree.
With your support, this Disney Planet Challenge project will also be presented by students at the Ozark Chinquapin Foundation meeting in March. The data they collect from the Research Project with six blight-resistant seed planted near the labyrinth will be used to help with survival of the species.
Thank you so much for all you do. ”

Rat Guts
Funded Apr 8, 2011Oh my! A-Ha! Ooooo! What is THAT?
These are words I love to hear in my classroom! The Rat Guts project was a tremendous success. Students learned first-hand about anatomy and physiology of vertebrates when they dissected rats in science lab. This was a follow-up of an Owl Dissection project where we reassembled rat skeletons.
While some student were a little skirmish to begin, all of them were excited to discover organs and organ systems in the rat. The rat specimens we received were large and easy to use for dissection.
Thank you so much for making this project possible for our students.
A-Ha!

Go Outside!
Funded Nov 29, 2010What excitement! My middle school students became engaged in learning all they can about our Outdoor Classroom environment so they can teach other students (and teachers!) ways to "Go Outside" and make learning frameworks fun while improving our Outdoor Classroom!
The Disney Planet Challenge helps all students in grades Pre-K through 12 learn ways to improve our environment. The kits, books and models will provide excellent hands-on learning with real-world applications.”

Funded Apr 22, 2010The GPS units you donated to my science classes will help teach students how to use modern technology for real life situations. They will be creating a geocache in the Outdoor Classroom on our campus and will be using the GPS units to find other caches in our area.
The students will also use the topographical features to draw a map of our 15-acre outdoor classroom to share with students in other classrooms and the general public.
Thank you for helping to make learning fun for my students and prepare them for their future.”

Funded Dec 6, 2008I just read the e-mail from DonorsChoose to my class. You can't imagine the excitement! My students are really looking forward to learning about the ocean and its resources. Thank you so much for helping Arkansas students learn about ocean currents, meteorology, tides, etc. Your help is greatly appreciated (for real!).
