  • Drawing and Painting Exploration

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

I would like to thank you on behalf of my students and our school. Your generous donations created a visible impact on student learning in my classroom. My students were very enthusiastic about working with these new materials. As you can see from the photographs, they put the materials to good use. They were able to work with charcoal to improve their observational drawing skills and understanding of form and value. They also got to work with acrylic paint and canvas. The variety of materials gave students multiple opportunities for success with this project. We will continue to work with these materials and use what we have learned to continue on our artistic journey. Once again, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alvarez

  • Make Our Art Studio Amazing!

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

I would like to express our gratitude for your generous donation in support of this project. Your donation has had a visible impact on our classroom and student learning. My students wanted to know what I was going to do with so many tennis balls. They were happy to learn that they would be used to protect the floor and keep our class room looking good. Since installing the tennis balls, I have noticed that my students are more conscious of how they take care of the classroom. One of our most successful projects using the materials from this project was our impressionistic landscapes. My students selected landscape images and used them as inspiration after learning about Impressionism. These paintings were displayed at our school exhibition where they were very popular.”

  • Help Us Complete Our Art Room!

    Funded Oct 2, 2017

I want to personally thank you on behalf of our art program. These materials gave us the opportunity to do projects that we would not have been able to do otherwise. Using some of the materials, we created monochromatic self-portraits. My students were very enthusiastic about using larger, more expensive canvases. They also loved using the higher quality brushes with long handles. Although some of these materials are consumable, the large amount of paintbrushes which will be used and cared for by my students, will ensure that this project leaves a lasting impact.”

  • Ceramics for Middle School

    Funded Oct 5, 2016

I am happy to report that my students and I are making great use of our new materials. My students were visibly excited when they first saw the pottery wheels. They had never seen pottery wheels in person and they desperately wanted to know if they would be using them.

I started my students off with the basics of ceramics. We talked about what clay is and how it's made. We learned how to wedge clay. We made pinch-pots, which are an easy way to get a physical understanding of how clay works. We then made coil pots, which is another fundamental clay technique. While working on these projects, the students that were interested or that completed their assignments early were allowed to try the potter's wheel. They are now researching on their own about the best techniques for the wheel and they are encouraging one another. These materials have made an observable impact in my classroom. Thank you.”

  • Help Us Grow Our Art Studio

    Funded Oct 21, 2015

My students and I would like to personally thank you for your generous donation to our project. We have been using these materials for all of our latest art projects. One of our favorite materials has been the different kinds of acrylic paint that we received. We have used the acrylic to paint beautiful self-portraits and landscapes.

When the materials arrived we were very excited to open them and get a closer look at the shiny new materials. These materials helped grow our art studio and take us to the next step in learning about art.”

    With gratitude,

  • Oil Paint Like Mary Cassatt And Claude Monet

    Funded Oct 14, 2014

I would like to personally thank you for your generosity. Your donations had a direct impact on student learning. The materials that were purchased with your donations went into my students hands and gave them the opportunity to express their personal creativity.

My students were delighted to hear that they would finally be able to work with oil paint. They began their work by choosing images and creating a grid to plan out their paintings. When it came time to paint, the students noted the difference in texture and appearance between the oil paint and the tempera paint they are used to using. Every student completed their painting and now has proof of their oil painting abilities. None of this would have been possible without your generous support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alvarez

Many of our students come from a low socioeconomic background. Our school is 95% free or reduced lunch. Few of my students are able to take outside instruction in Art. My students are excited to learn on a daily basis. They take home what they learn and come back every day with new ideas for projects. My students are motivated by new and exciting projects. I try to use fun projects with a variety of materials to maintain an environment where exploration and new information is abundant.
