Laptops for Learning!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Increasing technology in the classroom allowed for my students to do a variety of things they would not have been able to do before. We used the laptops during work stations where they were able to work on reading intervention, projects, and group activities.
With the sudden transition to virtual learning, the laptops were very necessary and useful. Each lesson was done with technology and these allowed my students to engage and connect online. My students loved the different things we did online for lessons such as Peardeck interactive lessons, using Scholaztic Storyworks resources, and research projects.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Reading, Reading, and MORE Reading!
Funded Sep 17, 2020The books that were supplied to my students through this project helped to increase the amount of literature in my classroom about diverse cultures and experiences. This was important because I wanted to ensure that all students felt welcomed, seen, and that my students were able to learn about and understand other cultures different from their own.
We used these books for various lessons. Some as read aloud a to discuss topics such as theme or plot. Others allowed for discussions that allowed my students to think critically and with more complexity. My students loved having access to such high quality books.”

Funded Oct 31, 2018My 4th graders absolutely benefitted from the use of these dictionaries and thesauruses. In our writing classroom, we use dictionaries and thesauruses to enhance our writing and understanding of vocabulary daily. Through lessons like a Dead Word Funeral or a fun candy tasting to work on describing using vivvid adjectives, my students learned how to use these resources to be stronger writers. Any time they didn't know a meaning of a word or knew a word was a "boring" word, they reached for a dictionary or thesaurus and found what they needed! Needless to say, my students are becoming stronger writers daily from the use of these resources.
We thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded Aug 2, 2017My students and I absolutely love the flexible seating in the classroom! There are even other teachers and students who want to come in just to take part in the seating options! The first time the students used flexible seating fully was exciting. We took time to discuss expectations for the classroom as a whole, then discussed what working at each option should look like. This activity was great because they were able to brainstorm and set expectations before I had to tell them what I expected. It was great to build independence and set the standards for flexible seating.
Meet the Teacher and the First Day of School were fun and full of explanation! Many of our students and parents were not familiar with flexible seating so I had to explain how the classroom would operate, as well as the benefits to education. Parents and students were very excited; one family was so excited that the mother immediately reached out to see if we needed any other options! She added pillows and lap desks to our collection of seats!
Currently our classroom is not fully flexible, as this is the first time ever using flexible seating. In the future, I would like to move towards a fully flexible seating classroom. I think this would really prove to be very beneficial to student learning and level of independence. With your help, we have been able to have a wonderful start! We thank you and are forever grateful!”
