Since my students have a great love for independent reading, I will be using these picture books for reading instruction. Inside my classroom, I model everything including fluent reading. During reading instruction, I complete a read aloud with the students to model fluent reading and introduce or review the reading skill for the week. The students love when I read to them. The picture books will also be used for independent reading. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of books inside my classroom for the kids. I would love for them to have more diversity, women rights, and social justice genres so they can connect to the real world.
