Smile....Camera is looking at You!
Funded Dec 8, 2014The IPad has been great resource for our PreK students. The past few years, our students have used the IPad to use our math curriculum while enjoying their time in the classroom with their peers. The IPad has shown our students that learning can also take place while using technology. Our PreK students also have access to this math account from home. Parents have been given directions which they can use to set up the account from their homes.
It has been our experience with the use of the IPad that the students are very interested in other types of learning. We have found and added applications that are age appropriate so that our students can enjoy during their choice time. Students have become more independent using the IPad for their learning needs. The use of technology is controlled and monitored throughout the day.
We have noticed that children who are especially quiet and shy use the IPad often and we use these opportunities to pair them with other children in hopes of increasing their language skills. Having the IPad in our classroom has become a life changing experience.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Team and 2 other donors.Let's Learn Spanish
Funded Mar 9, 2016Since we received our books for our Spanish after school program, the students have been so interested in reading. The students enjoy reading to each other and using books that are familiar to them when they are read in English. The students enjoy listening to the stories during storytime. During storytime, the listen carefully to the words read and try to listen for words that they have learned. The journals are used to write words that they have learned every day and they write it in their journals. The students review their words and so all of the students are increasing their vocabulary everyday.
When I told the students that I wanted to order some books and materials, they were really excited. My students thought that I would return the next day with the materials and they would ask me everyday when would they come in. My students kept saying that they wanted to play with the materials and read the books. When I finally told them that I had received the materials, they began to scream and shout.
In the coming weeks, I will encourage my students to create simple stories with the new words they are learning in Spanish. I will have them try doing individual stories and groups that could lead into a short play. I think that would make a great culminating after school presentation.”
