Enhancing Our Learning With Technology
Funded Feb 5, 2014Thank you all so much for your generous donations that have allowed my students to have access to technology in the classroom. The moment we met our goal all they could say was, "When are the iPads going to get here?". They were so excited when they arrived! We had to wait a few extra days until the cases came in and then we could finally use them.
Since getting these iPads my students are much more engaged during centers time in both reading and math. They play fun interactive math games like Sushi Monster to practice their basic facts, and Pearl Diver to work on fraction review. The greatest part is no matter what's we are learning, there's an app for that! Last Thursday during reading, partner pairs were using the iPads to read books out loud to each other. It was nice to walk around and see them using the dictionary function or the read aloud function to help them with words they didn't know.
My whole class thanks you so very much for your generosity and support. You have all helped my students more than you can know. Your donation has allowed them to get the extra practice that they need in a fun and engaging way. Thank you again!”

Protecting Our New iPads!
Funded Feb 11, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donation that contributed to the purchase of cases for our brand new iPad minis! The kids love them! They really enjoy the fun colors, and I enjoy the comfort of knowing that 24 9-10 year-olds will not be damaging our new investment! The handles on the cases allow the students to carry them safely around the classroom during our centers time.
We use the iPads for extra support in math and reading. There are hundreds of fun apps for the kids to use, and they are even suggesting some to me that they have used at home! My favorite app is Sushi Monster by Scholastic that allows children to practice critical thinking and basic fact skills in math for multiplication and addition. They also like to use the writing apps to create their own stories and even do voice overs for them!
This technology has allowed my students to practice basic skills in reading, writing, and math while having a lot of fun. It's always great when you can provide your students an opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time. The kids can't wait until centers time each day when they get a turn using the iPads and the way we rotate everyone gets a chance to use them each day!
Thank you again for your generosity. Please know that you have made a huge difference in the lives of 24 young children who now know that anything is possible.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Reed
