My students enjoy having books read to them. This activity will help them learn what good (fluent) readers sound like. It will also help boost their confidence, and motivate them to want to read more. I teach in a high-poverty Pre-K through Fifth elementary school. More than 90% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. Many of the families in my school are struggling to make ends meet. Books are just not a priority for them.
