  • Symbols For All

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you again, as always, for being an intregal part of these students' lives. I am eternally grateful for your support. It really does make a difference, and the fact that you are always supportive of us, specifically, restores my faith and passion in teaching. All students on campus will benefit from this project, but the time it will save me is invaluable. I can devote that time to my students and not my computer searching for what I need. You are a life-saver!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Newman

  • Financial Road Maps

    Funded Sep 13, 2024

Thank you for your unconditional and continued support! Students are using the bank books and budget workbooks to track and monitor their "bank accounts" as they cross the US on their road trips. They are quickly learning about the value of a dollar and the limits we have depending on our earning potential. Students are also getting a head start on positive and negative integers! This has been a great addition to the unit on adding and subtracting decimals.

Students will be incurring additional costs as time goes on to make them aware of expenses often overlooked by children and young adults such as insurances, taxes, healthcare, etc. Many thanks to you for our student successes!”

    With gratitude,

  • Game Changer

    Funded May 19, 2024

My students LOVE the games! Thefirst game they learned to play was Crazy 8s and continued for an hour! I've also shown them Yahtzee! and this week, they are learning Sorry!

Each week they will learn to play a new card game, including forms of solitaire so they can play without a partner. My next step is to procure a set of cards and a set of dice to send with each student on Back to School Night. Parents will play games with their children in class and, hopefully, continue at home.

We eternally grateful for all donors, including that at "Young Sheldon" on CBS!”

  • Below the Belt

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

Thank you for helping our students in this underestimated, important way. Students have been able to return to the classroom rather than sitting in the office for hours waiting for clothes from parents.

At the end of the year, after servicing several of my own students, the clothes were turned over to the nurse's office for use the next year. I was transferred to another campus and the items were required to stay at that site. The nurse was overjoyed at the donation - my students were not the only ones impacted by the lack of available clothing. The remaining items were used throughout the following year for nearly every grade level. The nurse's office is within view of the front door and all office traffic, making for a very embarrassing experience. These wonderful items have provided students with more self-respect and instructional time. Thank you again!”

  • Puzzles and Dominoes and Learning, Oh My!

    Funded Dec 8, 2022

Not only were my students able to use these activities last year, but since I am a teaching coach this year, many of the other classes have been able to use them in new and exciting ways! They have been life savers for us during rainy day schedule, with early finishers, social skills building, encouraging fine motor exercises, and a lot more!

I'm looking forward to continuing this type of learning in the future with card games, puzzles, and board games! (Though I think the kids are more excited than anyone!)”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Newman

  • In With The Old!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students LOVE these boards! They ASK to use them to practice skills! I am thrilled with the results! Students even choose them as a reward activity! My heart soared when I overheard them saying that they like these more than the puzzles that I usually use. I have been looking for something to supplement the curriculum for providing practice. Most children don't learn a skill after one lesson. They need constant repetition and these boards and tiles offer countless opportunities. Students can self-monitor and choose the tiles that they need to practice. The boards build independence, self-esteem, responsibility for one's own learning, as well as fluency in math and reading. In addition, they are virtually indestructible, which is great for students with ADHD and destructive tendencies.

In the time that we have been using these, I have discovered numerous extension activities to challenge advanced students and support strategic students such as writing a sentence for the word they made or simply tracing the letters of it. Thank you for helping me create successful learning opportunities this year!”

  • Feeding Focus

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

As always, your generosity is greatly appreciated! The students are always excited when they are able to eat a snack. Lunch is early and ends at 12pm. Most students do not get anything else to eat until dinnertime. Students eat snack at 2:30pm so that it can carry them as late as possible. Giving them a variety to choose from helps overcome pickiness and allergies. I supplement as often as possible with fruit and vegetables. The students are incredibly grateful for the sustenance and I am so relieved to be able to support them in this way! Thank you!”

  • STEM-ming From Curiosity

    Funded Dec 4, 2022

This project has made an incredible impact on our STEM time! The students would generally make boxes and towers with the original set. But the new additions have inspired them to include houses with separate rooms, staircases, bunkers, and more! There are enough magnet blocks that 10-12 students can use them at once, increasing the need for communication, planning, sharing, distributing, and so on. The students are using their verbal skills and making a much bigger effort to be understood by classmates.

Not every project pans out as successfully as predicted, but this one has gone above and beyond my expectations! I can't believe the change in such a short amount of time. I am so truly grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness. You make learning so much more engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Newman

  • Showing Pride

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your help in promoting self-esteem and pride in students. We have the chains hung up in the back of the class. Once per week, we present a tag or bead to students who have earned them. Students love to look at the tags they collected and show them off to friends!

They do not take them home, but we take pictures to send over ClassDojo so parents can see their progress.

Students earn tags for reading sight words, books, and tests. They can earn them for basic life skills such as memorizing phone numbers and addresses or tying shoes. Their successes are clearly visible for reinforcement!”

My school is an overflow school. This means that students who are kicked out of other schools, or pushed out due to lack of room are bussed to us. Many of our students do not receive support at home. This particular class has had a rough year and they have not had the exposure to science and history that they should. Many students do not receive meals at home and several more do not have access to books.
