For “Lights, Action - Build our Crew!” we want to professionalize our stage with two key features - a mobile staircase and a follow spotlight (a moveable spotlight), two staples of any polished theatre company. So why does this really matter? Being a part of the crew gives students who might not be ready to be in the spotlight to get behind it and become part of the production. Many of our students are eager to be part of our theater productions, but are anxious to be on the stage. Our follow spotlight will allow for more students to be involved in lighting our productions and will make our actors more visible. Our mobile staircase will allow us to create different levels on stage during productions. In addition, we will use it for construction and painting. Due to safety protocols, we don’t permit students to be on ladders, so often in constructing and painting sets, students are limited to what they can reach. With the mobile staircase we will give students a safe way to be more involved in the scenic design of our sets. We can’t wait to use our mobile staircase and follow spotlight in the middle and elementary school productions. With these two additions to our stage, students will have more opportunities to participate in productions they are proud of.
