  • Building a More Inclusive ELA Curriculum

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project. This book order will help me teach a more diverse curriculum, one that reflects the diversity of students in my classroom. We will be reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon in December. Thanks for supporting schools and kids. Have a great day!”

  • Building a More Inclusive ELA Curriculum

    Funded Sep 30, 2021

Thank you all so much for contributing to my classroom. I really think students will appreciate having more inclusive titles in our curriculum. It is also good to have a non-fiction title since we mostly read fiction.

Thank you for supporting schools and students. The contributions won’t go to waste.”

  • Building a More Inclusive ELA Curriculum

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much! Always great to update our curriculum with culturally relevant materials. I’m looking forward to teaching Ghost to my 7th graders. Ghost is just one of six new titles I hope to use this year.

With the new year starting on Monday I’m excited to be back in the classroom.”

  • So We Can Read Monster In My Class

    Funded Feb 14, 2019

I can honestly tell you my students loved reading Monster this year. While I thought it would be the conflicted protagonist that would most interest my class, it turns out they were just as fascinated by what they learned about the legal profession and the criminal justice process. They also really appreciated the unique format of the book - the diary entries and the screenplay. For many of my students, this was the first time they had seen a screenplay. Thank you so much for helping me share this book with my students - this year, and for years to come.”

  • Shakespeare for 7th Graders

    Funded Mar 2, 2019

I want to thank you all very much for contributing to my classroom. The Twelfth Night books will be put to good use. We will read the play and then travel to the Will Gear theatre in Topanga Canyon to watch a professional staging of the play. It's a great experience. Thanks again!”

  • A Midsummer Night's Plea - Supplimental Materials Needed!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting kids in my classroom. In fact, thank you for what you did for the entire public school community. We will be reading these books prior to attending a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the end of the month. My students were thrilled to hear the project was funded.”

  • High-Interest Novels for our Classroom Library

    Funded Aug 4, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. These are great contemporary books the kids will love. High interest books build a lifelong love for reading that helps in all aspects of life. Again, thanks for supporting public education. Your help will make a difference for students in my room for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Westhoff

  • Let's Keep These Kids Reading!

    Funded Mar 23, 2015

Thank you so much for continuing to contribute to my classroom. Students loved reading Persepolis and Persepolis 2. When we finished reading the books, students had to create their own continuation of the story, in the same graphic novel format as the books. I was very impressed with the quality of the artwork and the storytelling. It's also nice to know so many of my students were interested in reading books that deal with complex themes and foreign locations. It shows they are genuinely interested in learning about the world outside of the United States.”
