ESPERANZA RISING TO THE TOP OF THE CLASS

My class and I would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to those of you that made this project possible. My 6th graders are currently reading Esperanza Rising and enjoying this novel very much! The novel focuses on some specific themes, including the death of a loved one, the importance of family, and how life isn't always secure and predictable. These themes are discussed after reading each chapter. The students are also being exposed to new vocabulary words every time we read together. I am using the audio version of the novel to help my auditory learners focus while we all read together as a group.

For many of my students, this is the first time that they are reading a novel from beginning to end. Most of them love the novel and absolutely hate it when we have to stop reading because they need to prepare for dismissal. One of my classes, in particular, makes comments while we are reading as if they were watching a soap opera. Their mouths are literally opened in disbelief! Thus far, reading Esperanza Rising has been a wonderful experience for my students. I am very grateful for your help and support. Thanks to your donations, my students are able to enjoy a beautiful novel and I am able to continue fostering a love for the written word.”
