Imagine 24 pairs of busy five and six year old hands, discovering, building and engaging in bin of STEM items designed just for them. These are future engineers, scientists and inventors in the making. I am requesting for each of my students their own hand2mind STEM kit. These kits are an excellent resource that will provide hands on experiences to stimulate the minds of young learners. Students will demonstrate what they have learned by creating models, charts, and entries in their science journals. Donations to this project will help bring science to life for my students. This project will encourage open-ended exploration of engineering concepts and challenge students to think creatively and inventively. STEM activities will help engage my students in topics that they are interested in, thus making them more successful in school. These kits will encourages students to create, invent, and solve problems using their own set of developmentally appropriate materials. Each bin includes six double-sided Task Cards that use thoughtfully designed using real-world challenges to encourage exploration of open-ended engineering concepts, a write-on/wipe-off Blueprint Card for planning, and 6 different building materials in a compartmented plastic storage container. These bins are thoughtfully designed to encourage open-ended exploration of engineering concepts, challenge students to think creatively, inventively, and discover a fun way of learning.
