Help Turn My Classroom into a Science Lab!
Funded Jul 23, 2015Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my project. The support of my community is incredible, I am so grateful. I am thrilled about the opportunities that are now available to my students and I, with new tables and clipboards in our classroom.
I look forward to seeing my students work cooperatively on lab projects where they can collaborate and hold each other accountable for high standards of work and behavior by working together. Science is so fun, and I can't wait to expose students to things that will change their view of the world. It is great to see that you share my vision for education.”

My Students Need Your Help!
Funded Aug 3, 2014My students were thrilled the moment that they knew they would be able to use iPads this year, and that was weeks before they even got them! When they arrived, my students were overjoyed, although a bit shy with them. They didn't know what to do, and looked to me for direction in knowing what these amazing things are capable of! Technology is not a norm in all of their homes, and for many of them it was their first time using an iPad. I showed them the ropes, and now they're practically professionals.
We regularly use the iPads during our language arts time, to access the students online curriculum to play games and practice the things we're learning in class. We also use other language arts apps to help students practice their spelling and vocabulary words, to read books and have books read to them. There is even a story starter website they used when they are stumped on what to write about. One of their favorite apps is Google Earth. They are able to explore the town they know and love from the air, but they also explore rural Alaska, and Vietnam (both places where we have class pen pals). They show off to their friends places they've been, or places they've always wanted to go, all while studying the geography of their world. The iPads also make an awesome free time choice, and I have noticed that my students always choose the math apps. They think they're having fun, but they're really using Sushi Monster to practice their facts, and Dragon Box as an introduction to algebra.
My students are so excited to learn when using this amazing gift that you provided them. They are motivated to work with the iPads, and have fun while learning things that I cannot teach them by standing up in front of the class lecturing. We are all so appreciative of your generosity, it means a great deal.”
