Most of the students in my classroom are starting the school year off with a large educational gap already. They have not had the opportunity at home to be read to and introduced to early learning and literacy in their home environment. School should be challenging yet FUN for these students!!! My students come from an urban population in MA. Our school is a high poverty school with many of the students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Many of my students are facing family disruptions, absentee parents, or homelessness. Our school is making great progress and it is my belief that projects such as this will only help our students progress.
