  • Let's Get Back to the Classroom!

    Funded Jul 28, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to my project. I’m so grateful. It filled so quickly! Now we will be able to start the year with enough tables for all of us. We will also have so many amazing books for instruction AND for the kiddos to keep in their independent libraries.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Koplove

  • Black History is American History

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for donating so that I could attend the "Black History is American History," Workshop. This workshop really confirmed a lot of what I believe about teaching Black history as well as provided me with some new frameworks around which to center my teaching. The workshop really pushed educators to reflect on the ways in which Black history is currently taught and what we can do in order to represent this history in a truer, more authentic way.

The highlight of this workshop for me was thinking about how educators can connect historical Black movements to the movements we are seeing today. Not only did this workshop inform my teaching, it also taught me so many things I was never taught in my own schooling.

The learning I received at this workshop really helped me create my child activist unit that my students are currently working on. When they are finished, I can't wait to share some of their learning with you!”

  • Safe Learning Spaces!

    Funded Oct 9, 2020

I can't believe how quickly our project got funded. My students and I CANNOT wait to be back into the classroom together and get to use our new tables together. The tables will provide the safe learning space necessary for my kids to begin learning in the classroom-which is so essential at their young age. Your support means so much to us :)”

  • Celebrating Little Authors!

    Funded May 2, 2020

Thank you so much for contributing to my donor's choose project! It is so important that even in times like these that students continue learning. Writing Workshop is my kids' favorite time of the time. They will be ecstatic to receive writing materials to start their persuasive writing unit!”

    With gratitude,

  • Play Workshop-Work Hard, Play Hard

    Funded Aug 17, 2019

It has been a joy to watch the students in my classroom engage with the materials donated to this project. Each and every day the students are eager to explore their new toys. It never ceases to amaze me how creative the students are able to be throughout choice time with the available materials. During choice time, there are children monitoring the heart beats of classroom stuffed animals pretending to be veterans. The cooks are pretending to cook with the playdough and designing menus for their restaurants. After reading the Three Billy Goats Gruff and learning about bridges, the students used the donated legos to experiment with building their own bridges!

When the materials arrived to our classroom, the students could not wait to use them. Every day they want to know how much longer until choice time. The materials have sparked interests in non-fiction as well. While playing fire fighter, the students often look at non-fiction texts about fire fighters. As the students continue to grow, I am looking for more ways in which to engage the students throughout choice time.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Koplove

"Play is the work of the child."-Maria Montessori. Kindergarten is hard work. Each and every day we work to become readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and most importantly, good friends and community members. The bulk of this work occurs during daily play workshop. In Kindergarten, play is purposeful. Play appreciates student choice and interest. It allows for children to think creatively, problem solve, and develop empathy. Your donations will help my students have access to the toys and materials they need to build castles, open their own restaurant, take care of a sick pet, tend to their garden, and so much more!
