Calming Area for Ms. Lauer’s Kindergartners
Funded Feb 7, 2023The Calming Corner has become one of the classes' favorite spots to utilize. We have been learning to identify our feelings and how to appropriately cope with these feelings. The kids still have trouble with expressing how they are feeling so the books, posters, and feeling cards are helping them give an emotion to their feelings. It is so awarding to see the children starting to articulate and identify how they are feeling. The Calming Corner has also given strategies and ideas of building coping skills and working through frustration/sadness/loneliness/being overwhelmed. There is such a need to teach coping skills and this direct teaching through real life experiences has made my students more emotional mature and well adjusted young people. I remember I had a little girl that would just break down into tears several times throughout the day and withdraw from peers and adults. Now she will ask to go to the Calming Corner give the cuddle ball a few squeezes, sit in the beanbag chairs practice some belly breathes and then returns to her chair ready to learn.
The kids were excited and intrigued when they walked in one Monday and the Corner was built and ready for them. They were all introduced to the tools and given time to interact with the supplies. It is being used on a daily basis and really making a difference in my classes mental health growth.”

Assessment With Ipad
Funded Apr 2, 2012I want to personally thank you for your generous contribution in allowing my classroom to receive a Samsung Tablet. It has made a huge impact on the personally tailored educational program that my students are now able to receive. We use it in a variety of ways. I am able to do quick individual assessments and my students use it as a reward playing educational games when their work is completed.
As I am sure you are aware, our schools have suffered many budget cuts. My children would have never had the opportunity to utilize this modern technology without generous people such as you. Not only are the children receiving a higher quality of education but it is being delivered in a fun and interactive way.
I just want to say thank you again for your kindness from myself and my students!

Language Materials for Autistic Classroom
Funded Jan 16, 2009I am so thrilled that the children will be given a hands-on experience thanks to your kindness and effort. I have found that the school curriculum does not meet all of my students' needs. Teaching basic life skills is a necessity for my students that have autism, and your generous donation will supply them with the tangible items needed to help foster these skills. The food items will be incorporated to promote language and foster independence. Please know that your kindness and generosity has made a huge positive impact in multiple families' lives.
Thank you again so much!
