  • For the Birds! Bird Study

    Funded Jan 22, 2014

On behalf of all of my students, I would like to thank you for your generous support.

My students were so excited to participate in the "For the Birds" program. Through this hands-on program, my student learned about different types of birds, bird habitats, and bird migration. We read books about birds, researched and collected data about birds and wrote our own bird books.

We visited Central Park, on several occasions to go bird watching. This was an exciting outing that allowed my students to be "bird experts". The guides from the Audobon Society guided us through Central Park to locate popular bird habitats and watch birds.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cristel

  • For the Birds!

    Funded May 29, 2018

Our class would like to thank you for your donation to fund our Audubon Society "For the Birds" program. Your contribution made such a difference in supporting our class in learning about birds. Having this program fully funded through your generous donations via Donors Choose helped our class in ways that went beyond what we could have imagined.

With the help of our dedicated Audubon Society teachers, our class became Ornithologists. Each student received a Bird Journal, a field guide, magazines, and materials, and the incredible guidance of our Audubon Instructors. From learning about bird identification field marks, migratory habits, adaptation, sketching, and bird walks, our class was fully immersed in learning about birds. The joy of birding spread to the families– as they joyfully shared news of all the bird sightings in their neighborhood!

Each child received a Special Certificate of Completion at the end of our months long immersion from the Audubon Society. Through your generous donation this wonderful experience was made possible and will have a lasting effect on our students for the rest of their lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cristel

Ann Sandy, from 'For the Birds,' will grow the next generation of conservationists. Two 2nd grade classes will receive Seven 1-hour lessons plus one 2-hour field trip to Central Park. Plus, Field Guides and Journals! 'For the Birds' will open our, East Harlem, New York City, eyes and ears to the wonders of the avian world. We'll observe, count, measure, predict, write and draw about our observations using multi-disciplines–science, math, language arts, and visual arts. Our students are like hatchlings, wide open and awaiting the nourishment that DonorsChoose.org can make possible. We may even learn a bird song for you.
