Wow!! Thank you so much. I am blown away by the generosity you have shown towards the English Language Learners at the William Lynch School. • Franklin the Turtle Books

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and the English Language Learners here at the William Lynch School. The Franklin the Turtle books have been very helpful to enrich our guided reading time. The students love to read this series and see what kind of fun (and trouble!) Franklin will have throughout his adventures.

During our guided reading time we have used the Franklin the Turtle books to create higher order thinking questions about the characters and what they learn throughout the text. Students create their own questions and then find the answers within the text, using text evidence. These books have greatly improved our guided reading time and we are so grateful to have them!”

  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

We truly appreciate your support and generosity in providing classroom supplies for the English Language Learners at the William Lynch School.

By removing all obstacles for students to learn we can provide them with equitable opportunities. Having classroom supplies available to students, as opposed to asking families to provide them, relieves economic pressure on families. All students need access to dry erase markers, erasers, and markers. Students get excited to learn and create projects when they have well cared for school supplies in the classroom. When all supplies are available to all students we allow all students the opportunity to make learning fun. Thank you for supporting my classroom and the English Language Learners in our school!”

  • Pete the Cat Book Collection

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and the English Language Leaners here at the William Lynch School. All students love Pete the Cat and the books have helped to improve our guided reading time.

Pete the Cat books have been great to help students identify the beginning, middle, and end of a story. For example, the book Pete's Big Lunch, starts off with Pete feeling hungry and day dreaming about what he can eat for lunch. The thought bubbles and illustrations make it easy for students to understand how Pete is feeling in the beginning of the story.

Throughout the middle of the story Pete adds many things to his sandwich, all of which are introduced with a picture, which is great for ENL students to learn new vocabulary. At the end Pete loves the sandwich he created and feels full. Students love retelling the story by turning the pages and describing Pete's actions, thoughts, and feelings throughout the text.

    Thank you!!”

  • Guiding Reading Books for Diverse Learners

    Funded May 30, 2022

We at the William Lynch School are overwhelmed by your gracious generosity towards our school and our classrooms. The Mo Willems books have been well received by the ENL students and have created quite a bit of excitement.

These books have been great in helping us improve our skills of sequencing events in a story and identifying a problem and solution. Students have fun telling about what happened in the stories as they get to retell the funny parts of the stories of Elephant & Piggy. They are always creating funny problems that are easy to identify, like one book where a bird builds a nest on Elephant's head and hatches babies. Students are easily able to tell about the funny problems and solutions that the characters get into.

These books have improved our guiding reading time as they are highly enjoyable and have amusing stories for kids to read.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kreuser
