Blooming Mathematicians!
Funded Sep 2, 2024My students have been loving the new math resources! It has really helped to improve thier understanding of math numeracy. The math manipulatives have been used numerous times during centers and small group instruction. Having hands on materials for the students to use has made a big difference with their excitement in learning.
I have been introducing my students to the math resources a little at a time so that they learn how to properly use each material to get the most out of their learning. I can't wait to teach them how to count teen numbers using the dotted number cubes and the dinosaur manipulatives. This will definitely be a favorite center. I am so grateful for the engaging and motivating math resournces you have generously donated. Thank you so much for your support in creating a class of mathematicians!”

Help Us Hear What's Important!
Funded Oct 27, 2023Thank you so much for the sturdy headphones. My students love using them.
They are holding up so well in the classroom making it much easier for my students to focus on what they are hearing. The students use i-pads everyday in our centers so it is so important to have headphones that work well and hold up after everyday use.
Having headphones that work well is especially important to my students who are English language learners. These headphones cover their ears well and the sound works great. This helps them block out the noise around them and really hear what they need.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022My students have thoroughly enjoyed reading the Scholastic magazines. It has inspired great discussions, writing prompts, and activities for them. The last issue helped us compare penguins to people. The students were so engaged in learning about non-fiction and easily compared the two.
Every Friday we read another issue of Scholastic "Let's Find Out" and it amazes me to see how much the students are eager to learn new information. After reading the magazine they bring their copy home to share with their families. They can't wait to tell them what they have learned.
Scholastic "Let's Find Out" is especially wonderful for my students who have a harder time with comprehension. It is broken up into smaller chunks that allow for them to retain the information easily. Between the interesting articles and interactive website activities that go along with it I am finding those who usually have a hard time engaging due to comprehension have so much to say.
I appreciate so much your very generous support in my students future as readers!”

Funded Jun 11, 2022The books you have donated to our class are wonderful. Many of my kindergarteners have just learned the sounds of the letters. They are now able to use the decodable books you have donated to our classroom to begin to put use the sounds to read words. We have been putting together small words by blending the sounds together. The students were so excited reading their first book "I am Dad."
My students at this point of the year are just learning the basics of reading a book. They are counting how many words are on a page and using one to one correspondence along with sounding the letters out to read. Reading these books makes them feel proud and confident. The books that were donated are leveled in a way that matches the skills that are taught making it perfect for teaching reading in our small groups.
As my students progress as readers I can't wait to for them to read the many other books we have because of your generosity!”

Engaging Kindergarteners To Read!
Funded Sep 24, 2021Thank you so much for the Square Panda Phonics Playsets. They have been an amazing resource in helping to teach my students the fundamentals of reading. The playsets are used to create an engaging, hands-on experience for my students during our learning center times. This has been especially useful for my students who are English language learners and my struggling readers who find success using this material.
My students were so excited to try out the different games that go along with the Square Panda Phonics playset. They really enjoyed spending time with their friends as they played motivating learning games on it.
We will continue to use the playsets this year and they will be used for years to come to help motivate my students to learn this essential phonics skills and help grow their love of reading. I am so appreciative of your generous donation!”

Funded Aug 24, 2020I am so excited to share our Scholastic Magazine, Let's Find Out, with my students each week. It has been such a different year and you have really helped me provide students with a way to keep up with reading excitement and skills. We have discussed Veteran's Day in a way that Kindergartners can understand and appreciate, we learned about fall and what happens to the leaves, we discovered the parts of the pumpkin. All of these articles have sparked a love of nonfiction for my students. The best part about the magazine is that they can keep a paper copy and we can use the digital version as well since my students are on a hybrid schedule.
The students have been very engaged in the magazines. They are easy to follow and often use repetitive language that helps the students to be able to read along and learn common sight words. The back of the magazine usually includes a fun activity for the students to complete and they really look forward to it.
I really can't say enough how grateful I am for the support. You have helped to make nonfiction exciting and fun for my kindergarten students.”

Funded Aug 1, 2020I am so very grateful for your donation. I am sorry that I couldn't post pictures of the students using them yet, but I have been remote since March of last year. I will be returning to the classroom in January and so excited to start using the books with my students to practice sight words. The students are so excited about learning how to read and write sight words. Being able to practice in their books will be a wonderful way to reinforce what they are learning. Having school virtually has had many challenges. The Daily Summer Activities book is more important then ever this year. It is a relief to have them ready for the end of the year to give out to my students. I know this will be a huge help in decreasing the learning gap over the summer. After spending so much screen time having a book to work in is so needed. This is a wonderful resource for parents to follow and use. I am so grateful for donors like you and your generosity to make the future brighter for my children.”

Funded Sep 2, 2011Your donation has been so beneficial to the students, They have been using the Weekly Reader's to improve their reading comprehension and knowledge of current events. They really enjoy working together to summarize the articles and hold group discussions based on them. The new Common Core State Standards are very much focused on students learning informational texts. Without the Weekly Reader this would be a difficult task. Text books are usually too hard for the students to understand and the Internet has to be constantly monitored. Weekly Reader gives the students a fun and safe way to learn non-fiction. Each day there is a group assigned to work on Weekly Readers, and the students beg to be in that group.
Thank you so much for your generosity and devotion to the education of children. It is very much appreciated by myself and especially by the students. I can't tell you how much we are all benefiting from it!”

The Reader's Nook
Funded Nov 30, 2009I can not thank you enough for your generous donation. My students are enjoying reading so much more with the comfort of the pillows and bean bag. Students who were reluctant readers now grab a book and plop themselves down on the bean bag. First thing in the morning students run over to the pillows and grab one to make their chairs more comfortable. My partner reading buddies love to sit in the hall are read while sitting on the pillows.
Although it is a few things to add to the room, it made a huge difference. Donor's such as you make all the difference to children. I feel lucky to have witness the change in my students feelings about reading, but you are the ones that are behind it. ”

Worldly Third Graders Would Love Their Own News Magazine!
Funded Jul 17, 2008Thank you so much for choosing to fund my project. I can not begin to tell you how appreciative I am for your donation. It means so much to me that my students have the same educational resources that others have. Through this website and generous people such as you, they are able to have that.
I am looking forward to incorporating the magazines into my Social Studies lessons. This year being an election year makes this magazine especially perfect. Third graders are so eager to learn and this magazine is perfect for that. It provides a wonderful way of allowing them to share their thoughts, questions, and knowledge with their peers.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Dena ”
