I teach in a high poverty district in Ohio and many of my students do not have books at home to read. My district has provided some support for my take home books project, but I am still in need of additional books. I have also spent my own money, but am unable to spend any more. My classroom consists of 24 eager and energetic five and six year old students. They are enthusiastic about learning to read, which can be seen during daily independent reading time and small groups.
