  • Fantastic Foot Fidgets

    Funded Oct 28, 2019

Thank you again for your generosity and helping to fund our Foot Fidget Bands. The students were really excited to begin using them. Each chair in the room is equipped with a Bouncy Band, so there is minimal movement of chairs throughout the day.

The students could not wait to sit in their chairs the first day the box arrived. Upon entering the room they were quick to put their belongings away, grab their note books and get to writing at their tables.

While teaching whole group, student participation and attention has drastically increased. Kiddos are seldom wiggling around on the rug, distracting one another. In fact, most students pull a chair up to the perimeter and engage in the lesson while keeping their body safe.

Colleagues are intrigued by the concept of Foot Fidgets and have requested the use of our chairs in their room. Of course we are sharing so they can benefit from good teaching techniques.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cavaco

  • Drumming to the BEATS of our Hearts and Emotions

    Funded Nov 21, 2018

The students of Room 10 and I would like to thank you for your generosity. We are excited to begin learning this skill and have new strategies to use in our day.

You have given us such a gift and we are appreciative. We will be sure to send videos of our success.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cavaco

  • Where Shall I Sit?

    Funded Feb 15, 2017

Hello contributors to Room 10's new rug!

We are so excited to have a fire proof rug to sit upon. Our new carpet is colorful, spacious and more than we ever hoped it to be. When it arrived before the due date we were ecstatic, we could not wait to unwrap it.

Each day we use the numbered visual replica to: conduct our morning meeting, listen to whole group instruction, create master pieces in writer's workshop, and as a location to play educational games upon completion of work. To say we love our new area would be an understatement.

Thank you once again for your generosity in helping us obtain a new spot to sit.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cavaco

Room 10's classroom is composed of 24 diversified students. Presently 10/24 are leveled as an ELL student. Several others have behavior modification plans. The remaining student population does consists of typical active behaviors and what some would consider ADHD characteristics. We are always busy and on the move. There is constant activity throughout the classroom environment. Students are not required to remain seated at all times, movement is welcomed. We learn through shared inquiry and work very well as a team. Our learning is also promoted through individual growth. The spirit of the room is happy, safe and excited to learn!
