  • Crochet Club

    Funded Oct 24, 2008

Thank you so very much for funding our crochet club! The students are so excited about getting started. They have been asking daily if we've received the funding. The students have to sit in the hallways for 45 minutes before school begins. Learning to crochet will be a skill that they will remember for the rest of their lives. We are even hoping to make scarves and hats for some of the homeless people in our town.

Thanks again for providing a valuable experience for our children.

  • Notebooking in Science

    Funded Oct 8, 2008

I am so very excited! I arrived at school this morning and found that my Notebooking request had been funded. I am trying to get Science more integrated into the writing and journaling process. By leading the students in more focused observations of our experiments, they are better able to write about them. By using these notebooks, the students will have a place to keep their findings all year long. This is such a wonderful opportunity for my students and for me to grow is our science learning. As Science Specialist for my school, I have the opportunity to work with all students in the building.

Again, thank you so very much for your donation to our project”

  • Knit One, Purl Two

    Funded Jan 31, 2008

Thank you so very much for funding Knit One, Purl Two. My low income boys and girls will be delighted to learn that we can continue to knit and crochet. This life skill is one that is exciting to boys and girls alike. They love making something that they can use.

    Again, thanks so very much!

  • Sew Fine

    Funded Oct 4, 2006

Thank you so very much for funding my Sew Fine proposal. I have wanted a way to teach life skills as well as other "school" skills to my fourth and fifth grade students. My students will learn to knit and crochet and may even use their skills for improving their life. I'm excited to think that boys as well as girls will be interested in taking up this hobby.

Again, thank you so very much!!

  • Science Standards Alive!

    Funded Dec 27, 2005

Thank you so very much for funding our LCD projector. I will be able to use my laptop computer and project the material to a large screen easily viewable by the entire class. The students will love this wonderful learning opportunity!!

    Thanks so much!”

    With gratitude,

I am a Science Specialist in an elementary school with a very high population of free and reduced lunches. Our students need help and encouragement in writing. If we had a Tops composition book for each student in grades 3-5, it would give the students a sense of ownership in their writing. They would personalize their writing books and would use them for Science Notebooking. This is a very carefully taught hands on inquiry based writing about focused observations of science experiments. The students get very excited as they watch their notebook grow and become a valuable learning tool.
