While our district has finally reintroduced Visual and Performing Arts back into the classrooms, the budget is not there yet, and the catalog is lacking. We want to fill our art classroom with joy and creativity. The students look forward to exploring and creating. Many of our art projects also connect with other areas of the curriculum. The products that I have selected will enrich my students' masterpieces by exposing them to a variety of elements to work with. Art mediums such as clay and chalks improve hand-eye coordination skills, develop fine motor skills, teach creativity, and encourage play-based learning. Plus it is always hands-on fun. As our 5th grade community comes together to learn and discuss the different elements, styles, and artists, we will also be able to create our own works of art, such as sculptures and drawings.
