  • Therapeutic Sensory Space

    Funded Jul 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity towards our students. They utilize the sensory area daily. Teachers also bring the kids in to have breaks when they completed their assignments etc. The weighted blanket has been helpful to calm the students down when they are worked up or frustrated. The canoe has been an area my students use to read for flexible seating. The punching bag is useful when I have students upset or frustrated. I have also been able to share my room with the Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist. Together, we made this sensory room a success with your help!”

    Ms. McCabe

  • Speak Up and Express Yourself

    Funded Nov 14, 2017

Thank you for your donation towards the investment of my classroom. I am very privileged to have thoughtful people such as yourselves donate to us. I have purchased recently another program to go with the iPad for my very low functioning students. My more difficult student with autism uses it for communication especially as a calming method when he's upset. iPads are surely not the only mode to elicit language skills, but definitely are an important item to use for reinforcement. Thank you, again!”

  • Stand-Up for Students and Their Needs

    Funded Jun 4, 2017

I have placed the table in another classroom for the kiddos to use. So far, some have become accustomed and enjoy the table. Others not so much, but it isn't for everyone. I am going to try the table in a variety of classrooms to see who it works best for. Thank you for your donation to the cause and helping our restless kiddos stand their ground when sitting down for two periods can be difficult. It is all about trial and error at this point. I use all types of flexible seating to see what works best for each individual student. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McCabe

  • Flex In' It!

    Funded Feb 8, 2017

Thank you so much for the donation of the chairs. This addition to our flexible seating has been so successful thus far. Both students and adults have used the chairs and found the movement to be soothing and allowed our students to be more attentive to their work. At first, students were uncertain, but as soon as they hopped on, they thought it was so cool. I have leaned away from using regular chairs to a total flexible seating approach. Your donation was so thoughtful and I am thankful you chose mine. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

  • Mobile Speech Therapy

    Funded Sep 8, 2016

    Dear Donors:

The IPad has been a dream when using with the kiddos and keeping their attention. It is used academically in addition to a reward for positive behavior. I have been able to target vocabulary, articulation, syntax and pragmatic skills.

All students that are in my speech and language class have been able to have access and use. We had a mini mock election with my students in the functional unit and they were able to cast a ballot for their top teacher at Howard Bishop Middle School.

Thank you so much for your generous offer and I appreciate your support!”

  • LEGO Therapy For Speech/Language

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

When the materials arrived, I was very anxious to use them. I made a table in my room designated specifically for this therapy use. My students were excited when I told them we would use it the last therapy session. My student with autism went straight to that table to start with the Legos rather than work first with me. Nonetheless, this use in therapy with these materials so far have enabled my non verbal and cognitive impaired students to use more words through repetition, follow directions, label and work with one another. I am sincerely thankful for your contribution to getting these materials in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

  • Power of the Color Press!

    Funded Dec 17, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations. I truly am grateful for this site and donors that help us within the classroom. A lot of our salary for those of us that are dedicated goes into doing what we love. I'm almost out of black ink already, but that is how much I needed this printer.

I've already been able to create 3D items to use with my iPad for my kids that are lower functioning. I don't know who is more excited-them or myself. I was nervous to ask for anything on here to begin with. It's a little uneasy asking others for financial help. However, I am appreciative and everything I've received through this site from generous donors like yourself are being put to use daily.

    Muchas gracias!!”

  • Children in Need of a Voice

    Funded Jul 2, 2015

I have had extreme success thus far using the Ipad with a student. We were able to download Proloquo on it, and let him play with it for a while. Now, we are in the teaching phase since he is engaged with the symbols and the fact that there is a voice attached to it. Some of our teachers have assisted in corresponding with the student using simple communication. For example, if we ask how are you today, he can respond with fine or okay. He is grasping the concept that people want to communicate with him and he does have a voice. It has been very rewarding to see progress in such a short amount of time. Thank you so much for assisting in this technology that will go a long way with others as well.”

    With gratitude,

  • "Hot, Hot, Hot!"

    Funded Sep 10, 2014

I am writing to say how much I appreciate your donation towards my therapy materials for my kiddos at Howard Bishop Middle. It has been so much fun utilizing these materials with my kiddos that are very low functioning and up. There is growth already from reviewing materials and implementing other materials in addition to using the hot dots. This is just a fun way to keep them engaged because worksheets definitely don't do the trick. Success is not possible in my classroom without your support. You are appreciated, and I thank you a million times!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McCabe

My students are separated through our self contained, major program and functional unit. My caseload is up to 70 and I am the only speech-language pathologist. I provide inclusion therapy.
