I'm a 4th grade general education teacher, and have 4 SPED students during homeroom, Science, and Social Studies. I teach at a public school, but on a military base. 90% of our students are military. Because we are a military school, students come and go. There are 25 students all together. Our school has about 750 students. Most students are stationed here for 2 years, then they will move. Our Social Studies curriculum for 4th grade is learning about Hawaii. They learn about how the islands were created (myth and scientifically), how plants/animals/people came to Hawaii, Hawaiian culture, social class system, immigrants, and up to Hawaii becoming a state. Many students don't know much about our Aloha State, and are very interested in learning about this beautiful state.
