Organized and Ready for Math!
Funded Jun 26, 2023Thank you for helping us! By being (and staying!) organized we are able to find our materials and get down to work much more quickly.
Just today, the math skill we were working on was adding doubles and the students went immediately to their math kits and took out their 100s charts to get started! Everyone knew exactly where to go to get their tools. But the best part is that everyone knew what to do for clean-up!
You have helped us to streamline our routines and spend more of our time learning, and that has been invaluable! Many, many thanks!”

Linking Our Lives to Literature
Funded Dec 8, 2017Thank you for improving our classroom library! Many of the books in our library were falling apart, missing pages, and/or not relevant to or representational of our students. We had a lot of books that were way too easy or way too difficult for the readers in our room. We had too many books with subject matter the students could not relate to (like frontier life.) We had books about making friends written by Bill Cosby! Now, thanks to you, the kids get to tuck into some classic children's literature, and to see themselves in the books they read.
Reading has now become more enjoyable in our room, and it is so exciting to hear students recommend new favorites to each other. "Because of Winn-Dixie," "They All Saw a Cat," and "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" are all in especially heavy rotation and well-loved.
Thank you again for your generosity!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Young

Funded Apr 19, 2014When the boxes arrived in our classroom, the kids rushed up to circle to see what was in them. They were so excited to have something that was purchased just for them; so excited to see what grownups who wanted them to be successful had gifted them. They just couldn't believe that complete strangers wanted them to have these nice new things! They felt and still feel very special.
The pillows are a hit! Students now ask me how many minutes until Reader's Workshop begins, and whose turn it will be to use a pillow. They are markedly more excited about independent reading time, and have come to see reading as a pleasurable, comfortable activity. We are off to a great start this year building readers! Our document camera has been used on our team for things like read alouds (most recently with "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers"), and correcting math work together. We have been fortunate to have had only one really unbearably hot and sticky day this fall, but I can tell you the fan was worth its weight in gold x100!
My teaching, and the students' learning have become much more efficient, enjoyable processes for all of us in the classroom. Thank you so very, very much for improving our day-to-day quality of learning. You are greatly appreciated!”

Ms. Young
