  • Improving the Classroom Atmosphere

    Funded Aug 21, 2021

The new indirect lighting in my classroom made such a difference during the school year! It was much more of a relaxing lighting rather than the harsh, overhead lights.

The students using the desk lights remarked that the light not only kept them focused on the task in front of them, but also signaled to them, when they turned it on, that it was "time for business." They got into a routine, and the last step before the bell ringer was clicking on their desk light!

I also appreciated the door bell chime to get their attention during Group Work. I selected different bird calls on the Door Bell Chimer, and used the opportunity to teach them the sounds of different birds (which my grandma always could do!). It was a hit and served as an attention getter EVERYTIME!!!! :)”

  • Award Winning YA Novels to Update the Classroom Library

    Funded Sep 9, 2021

Thank you for donating books to our classroom library to help spark their interests during the 2021-2022 school year. I want you to know it was a hit! The titles you helped put on my shelves were checked out, over and over again. Two of the titles have movies in the makings which always generates interest and reinforces the poster I have in the room "the book is better than the movie." It encouraged several students to read the book with the anticipation of going to see the movie when it premieres. Again, you helped me, through your donation, add new titles to my shelves, which encouraged reading in the classroom. That's such a good thing, to be able to disappear in a book, when the world gets too much. This year was tough, but you made it better!!! :)”

  • Stock the Classroom for the 2021-22 School Year

    Funded Aug 7, 2021

Thank you so much for helping to stock our classroom for the 2021-2022 school year! It was an unusual year, but by donating to our supply closet for the students, it ran much more smoothly. The screen wipes were a success, and with a box that size, still being used the last week of school! All the inventory was put to good use and appreciated by the students. Your generosity to stock the supplies for my students, removed any stress about not having a pencil or paper during the school year. Much thanks to donors like you that make our job easier. :)”

  • The War on DISTRACTION During the Digital Age

    Funded May 21, 2021

When I first wrote up this funding project with the book "Distracted" it was for my English Department peers interested in a Summer Book to discuss. I imagined we'd meet several times over the summer to discuss the book...and we did. But at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year my principal approached me and asked me to do a Workshop for the entire school! He had heard good things about our Book Club over the summer and thought it would be beneficial to everybody!

I gave three Workshops and the teachers said good things about how helpful this was and many checked the books out from our library. The most helpful tips were the arrangement of a classroom to avoid distractions and the encouragement of a back aisle so that teachers could walk behind the class and therefore be able to immediately see all the screens in the class at random times during lectures, etc. We also benefitted from the Tips about creating a "community class" because it's hard to ignore people and play on your computer and phone when you actually know each other and want the best outcome in group work.

Today, our Supervisor asked for proposals for our entire district and I submitted one for this book! Thank you so much for donating to this fund last year. It has definitely been put to good use and extended much furthur than originally anticipated.”

  • Secure Hand Sanitizer Station at the Entrance

    Funded Feb 27, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to supply Automatic Hand Sanitizer Stations in our school. We assembled them, added signs and found the best sanitizer to use for the safelty of our students and faculty. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results!

We found that with the automatic stations, instead of the desk with a small pump sanitizer on it, our students used it more frequently. We found that the students didn't want to put their stuff down, touch the bottle, get some sanitizer, pick their stuff back up, and a line was forming to boot. Now, thanks to you, with the automatic hand sanitizers, the students just walk by and reach out with one hand to get some. It works and increases the chances that students will be safe and use it.

Our schools were opened last year before the vaccine on a hybrid schedule and are open full time now. Safety is our utmost concern, and the hand sanitizer stations throughout the school made that possible. Thank you so much for being there for our students by providing the donation to make these stations possible. I appreciate your generous donation several times a day, EVERYDAY!”

  • Novels to Read for Inspiration in Teenagers

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so MUCH for donationg to my project to freshen up my classroom library with a display poster and selected books in my ninth grade English class. I received the box the week before students returned and it was such a day brightener! :)

Our students are back in the classroom, we are thrilled to see the hallways full of students again. It was a lonely place during this pandemic.

As students walked into my class the first week, I will say they wandered over to the display you helped to make happen. Some books have beeen checked out, and I have included those books in my Friday First Chapter days, with lots of interest stirred up!

Again, it is so deeply appreciated when you help make projects come true to better our classrooms!! We are better because of YOU! Thank you!!!”

  • Help FILL the Pantry

    Funded Dec 15, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our food challenged students during holidays and over the weekends. School is BACK in session! We are so excited to be getting back to normal and seeing kids in the hallways! :)

With your donation to my project we were able to fill up the pantry in the Main Office for these students that need the support to choose from and fill a backpack. This year we also needed a few backpacks replaced from last year, as well as the non-perishable food items stored on the shelves. You were so kind to see this project and offer to help fill this need in our school.

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

  • Sanitation Station in My Classroom

    Funded Dec 6, 2020

Yes, we are LIVE back in the CLASSROOM, and I am so HAPPY to be here, as are they!!!! I missed my students and they missed us. Thanks to you all, I have an automatic, trendy hand sanitizer stand next to the entrance of my classroom. I am thrilled to be able to offer this to my students as they enter and exit. :)

My principal came into my classroom and saw it, and then ordered several more for the school hallways!! I have been able to assist the custodians with putting them together since I had "experience" with mine, and give the book keeper the "best" hand sanitizer to use in them from my trial and error.

Again, thank you! YOU make it possible to have the expensive, yet necessary things in my classroom for my students.”

  • A Fully Stocked Classroom with All the Essentials

    Funded Sep 10, 2019

Thank you for the donation to my classroom supplies. Because of COVID, our school went virtual in the second part of last semester during last year and I still have most of the supplies in my classroom that you so generously donated. We are set to open in January and welcome the students back to a Hybrid Schedule, and I am so lucky, because of YOU, that I have plenty of new school supplies to share with them.

In fact, there were plenty of supplies to share with my entire English Department! We are so lucky to have donors like YOU out there giving us a helping hand.

I still have the boxes of pencils, markers, paper, hand sanitizer and tissue from the project you helped supply. Thank you so much!”

  • Help Us Fill Our Pantry for Students in Need

    Funded Sep 30, 2018

Thank you so much for the generous donation to our Food Pantry for our High School students to pick up a few items over the weekend/break to eat. We have backpacks that we pack for them with a selection of snacks and food to help elevate the hunger they face in their homes. These are identified as McKinney-Vento students, from our high school as well as the near by Elementary school. Last year, we spent $1600.00 to keep this going and the students were very appreciative. We also raise money for our pantry doing a fundraiser at the school that varies every year, this year it was a Paint Night inviting teachers from the school to participate.

Thanksgiving Break is over and now our longest Christmas Break is close, this is when students become stressed the most about missing out on the school breakfast, lunch and after school Fuel Program. They worry about food. It breaks my heart to think not everyone looks forward to a break from school. But thanks to YOU, our Pantry is FULL! We can pack those back packs and send them off to enjoy their break too! Thank you so much for being a sponsor for this program and the Donorschoose Program as well. We appreciate you. xxxxxxxxxx ooooooooooo xxxxxxxxxxxxx ooooooooooooooo xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ooooooooooo”

A picture is worth a thousand words! We focus on getting the story and honing the writing craft in our journalism class but just as much attention should be placed on capturing the right picture. If we had a good quality camera to use for sports, dances and other action shots it would improve and strengthen the story. This is also a possible career interest for high school students and might inspire a photography interest. Please help our school secure a quality camera for our newspaper staff. We look forward to building skills around the proper use of a camera.
