Thank YOU so much for getting my classroom supplies off to a good start during Back-to-School Week! The supplies couldn't have come at a better time! I had one last day in my classroom before the students were going to arrive and the box of supplies came that day. I had extra time to organize the room and put the pencils out, fill up the paper bins and install the hooks at the back for their bookbags.
The students use the hooks every class period and it helps me navigate the aisles without tripping over bookbags. Of course, we always need pencils and paper, even through we are 1:1 with computers, everyday we still write. I thank you for helping with all those supplies and definitely felt your support. :)”

Tha last few months of school we were running low on tissues, pencils and the classroom pencil sharpener had sharpened its last pencil. It was like Christmas morning getting all those supplies to get my classroom off and running for the new school year! All those supplies were used and appreciated each and every day by myself and the students! Thank you so much for your generosity and support of teachers on DonosChoose. :)
I used the wipes every day at the end of school to wipe off desks and keep the students healthy. The wipes were available for any student that needed one during the school day. The Band-Aids are very popular with teenagers. It is something I can't figure out? Mostly, they come up and ask for one because they have a hangnail or a papercut or an unexplained looking thing that requires a cover. I had enough with your donation to share the box with my English Department teachers.
And then the pencils...always needed especially during testing. Even though we are a one-to-one computer school, the pencils will always be a necessity. Thank you so much for being part of the DonorsChoose community and looking to support teachers with the day-in and day-out basics in the classroom!! XX”

My checkouts did indeed increase across all my students, in fact many checked out books over the summer with me and promised to stop in the first week of school to say HI! and return them. I would enjoy past students returning often to check out my books, and in doing so, check in with me to see how their doing in other classes! That would be a Win Win in my books! Thank you so much for funding our project for tools for our student run garden. All of these tools you helped purchase, were used almost daily and appreciated by myself and the students. You can see by the photos below how much we needed these and how instrumental they were in the planting and maintaining of the garden throughout the year. This is such a learning experience for the students and part of a giving project to the Food Bank in town with the produce that grows there. Garden tools are very expensive, and it would not have been possible to purchase without the help of you and DonorsChoose.”

This project that you funded for my classroom was hands-down the MOST beneficial!!! Having extra long extension cords in the classroom for all the computers was a LIFE SAVER!!!! I just wish I had more outlets, but our school was built in the 1970's before the need, but truly, the two extension cords saved the day, EVERY DAY, for my students. It was put to use constantly. :)
And OF COURSE, we always need tissues and pencils. Thank YOU for generously donating to my project. This year pencils were never an issue. If they needed one, they grabbed it. No questions asked. Thank you for supplying these in my classroom in such a quantity that it lasted all year.”

Thank you so much for the books promoting self-care with our teachers. This year, the teachers voted to read "Thrive" in the Book Club. We were a bit over ambitious, thinking we could read two books this year. We decided to save "The Resilient Educator" for next school year. Around April, we realized we were finishing the first book and would not have time to start on the other book.
We really wanted to share what we had read, so during the Professional Development Meeting in May, we had a Station in the Rotation where other teachers could hear from us about the book. We also promoted the other book for next school year, and got a few other teachers signed up to join the Book Club. This really was a respite during the school year to meet with the teachers at a local restaurant and talk about what we were reading and how we were putting it in use in our lives. Thank you for your donation to support teachers with these books!”

Thank you so much for the tissues and expo markers that we always need!! I was able to share with the entire English Department! We appreciate the hand sanitizer from Amazon because that brand is thicker and does not drip from the dispenser. It is the only brand that works perfectly for our school dispensers.

A picture is worth a thousand words! We focus on getting the story and honing the writing craft in our journalism class but just as much attention should be placed on capturing the right picture. If we had a good quality camera to use for sports, dances and other action shots it would improve and strengthen the story. This is also a possible career interest for high school students and might inspire a photography interest. Please help our school secure a quality camera for our newspaper staff. We look forward to building skills around the proper use of a camera.
About my class
