Thank you so much for donating to our supply closet this school year!! We have had plenty of pencils, markers, paper, extra water and granola bars for those that are having a snack attack. My class appreciates the supplies, as do I!! :)
Students are constantly losing their pencils and to have extras in the classroom just removes that one battle. I also appreciated the gold paper this year for important documents. By using that paper it doesn't get lost in their backpacks because the color is so BOLD and eye catching! I think I have a 95% return rate on anything I printed in that color. Thank you for supplying my classroom with these items!!!
Sincerely,
Carneal”

Thank you so much for the project supplies! We partnered with Meals on Wheels in Newport News, Virginia during Thanksgiving 2024 and had students participate in an after school project where they created a heartfelt message to a senior in our community wishing them a happy Thanksgiving! The group of students enjoyed doing this and were able to make 50 cards for delivery!
This Club at our school is called Acts of Kindness Club. We used the letters, envelopes and stickers that you provided for this message. We still have about 50 more envelopes and letters with paint supplies too, and plan to create Easter/Spring Message cards for our Meals on Wheels connection this Spring when we return from our break.
Thank you for your generosity and making this project come true for the students!
Sincerely,
Carneal”

Thank you so much for donating to my project for the closet in our school. We have really needed hats, gloves and hoodies for our students needing warmth during these cold days! We still have the cold days of February! The students let their Guidance Counselors know of they would benefit from a new hoodie, beanie and gloves, and YOU made it available this year!! Thank you so much! :)”
Thank you so much for the UpFront Magazine donation to my classroom! I often use it for a "Do Now" when they enter the classroom while I take attendance. They read one article as a class and then one choice article. After I have finished attendance, they turn and talk about their choice article and then we discuss the news article as a class that they read. They have been practicing supporting what they think with evidence from the article instead of just "me me me" and getting used to their thoughts being questioned.
The UpFront Magazine keeps students up-to-date with current news in a format that they are interested in. Thank you again for supporting my project. It's because of YOU I can have resources like these available in my classroom.”
Many students complain that they don't feel like they are being prepared for the real world...and then I got these materials! This collection of resources in my class about money smarts, investing and avoiding debt really sparked their interest! I have a small group of students that come in during the morning and discuss the book "I Want More Pizza" and listen to excerpts of the "Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens on my audio player.
After we finish George Orwell's "Animal Farm" , I have created a lesson on the Basics of Money Management from the book "I Will Teach You to be Rich" by Ramit Sethi. The author Orwell lived and wrote about poverty and struggling without money, so it seems a good Unit to follow with a short section on saving money. The students get involved and truly feel like they can apply what they are learning and avoid the mistakes of debt.
Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and supplying the resources I need to teach.”

Thank YOU so much for donating to our Food Collection for our students in need over the two week holiday! Our students in the Acts of Kindness Club was instrumental in packaging and shopping for the food for the deliveries. Thanks goes to our Guidance counselors for identifying the students that would be helped over the holidays and keeping their identity private from our students that were willing to help. I was given the addresses, and along with my husband, we were able to deliver the seven bags of food.
I can let you know that nothing but SMILES and a few tears greeted me at every door. But it was REALLY because of YOU and your donation. I let them know the donations were from our DonorsChoose Community full of LOVE for them! YOU made it possible! It was a wonderful message for the Acts of Kindness Club to know that TOGETHER we can make good things happen in the world.
What an incredible surprise for my Yearbook students!!!! I can't wait to reveal the new camera my staff will be using to take pictures this school year because of your generous donation! You have allowed us to provide quality pictures for our Yearbook using this camera. The students will also be taught proper care and cleaning of the camera. We appreciate the opportunity you have given us to work with this fine quality camera.”
Thank you so much for the subscription to the Scholastic Magazine "Upfront" with its digital curriculum available to the students. It is a wonderful magazine with current events that keep students engaged in what is going on in the world with a language they understand. This subscription has been part of my classroom "Do Now" for the last two years. As students enter, they grab the new magazine when it comes out and select a story that interests them to discuss, while I take attendance and check in with students who were absent last class. Thank you so much for being generous and giving to my classroom!!
Every month the students look forward to the new magazine!! Thank you!”

A picture is worth a thousand words! We focus on getting the story and honing the writing craft in our journalism class but just as much attention should be placed on capturing the right picture. If we had a good quality camera to use for sports, dances and other action shots it would improve and strengthen the story. This is also a possible career interest for high school students and might inspire a photography interest. Please help our school secure a quality camera for our newspaper staff. We look forward to building skills around the proper use of a camera.
