Our scholars spend A LOT of time in class each day. In our school we use block scheduling so students have four separate 80 minute classes every day. 80 minutes is a long time for anyone, let alone a 11-14 year old kid to sit and work. These seating (and standing) options will allow all students a more active way to "sit" in class and work. Stability chairs allow for a flexible seat that curves, bends, bounces, and rolls to allow student to find a more comfortable way to sit and work. The therabands get tied to the legs of the desks to give students a place to rest their feet, bounce them, or even just that extra little bit of resistance to not only make them more comfortable, but allow them to release some of that built-up energy (especially during these loooong WI winters). If sitting is just not going to work today, the standing desks allow an option for students to do their work while standing at a desk. This is much better for our students physically than the current option of standing at their student desk and leaning over to work. Each of these options not only allow students to get out energy during class, but for many, it can be the difference between being able to focus and be successful and struggling to make it through class.
