Cutting Edge Tech for First Robotics Students
Funded Sep 16, 2024Your donation enabled me to provide the Orange Pi and smart vision system to my students. They have learned how to set up a camera and coprocessor to detect and track targets for the robot we build for the First Robotics Competition.
These skills will provide our students the opportunity to create innovative solutions to the new challenges they will face in the new competitive robotics season. My students are always so excited when they can design programming routines combined with new technology to solve the challenges presented in the FIRST Robotics Competition.”

Laptops for Learning for Talented Teens/Tweens in FIRST Robotics
Funded Aug 14, 2024With your generous support for this project, my students are able to use these new laptops to learn computer programming in the languages of Python and Java. They are able to use this laptops also to learn how to program our various competition robots.
Because we now have these new laptops, students are also able to check-out a laptop to take home to continue their programming studies at home and to show their parents the projects they are working on. This allows students to get a deep understanding of programming principles and to share their learning with others.
We are so grateful for the new equipment and my students say "THANK YOU SO MUCH!"”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Gates Foundation and 2 other donors.Amazing Micro:bit Manipulatives for Making and Exploration!
Funded Nov 8, 2023Wow! My students are loving these kits! Today they built the Robotic Claw and it was amazing to see them persevere through difficulties they had along the way.
With this kits, students build a machine with lego-style blocks and motors and they explore the way machines work. They then write the program code to control the machine and then expand on the project.
Because of your support, my students are EXCITED about class and more importantly they look forward to WORKING and LEARNING with these kits. They are ENGAGED in class and they work together to figure things out.”

Funded May 8, 2023Wow! My students are so excited about the new laptops they can use for our robotics team. They have been able to get their software installed on the new laptops to learn more about programming our robot in Python and the new computer for the driver station is so light and fast - the drive team LOVES the new laptop!
These new computers will also be used to expand our programming team. Last year we had 6 programmers on our team, but we will be expanding the team to 10 this year. With the new laptops we were able to purchase with this funding, we can provide more students with hands-on experience to learn Python and write code for our robots.
We are extremely grateful for this new equipment. My students say "Thank you SO very much!"”

Funded Feb 8, 2022My high school pre-engineering and computer science students LOVE to learn to solder and investigate digital electronics.
When I opened the box of soldering kits, the students IMMEDIATELY wanted to go to the lab and start building a project. It is inspiring to see their enthusiasm and watch them as they unpack a kit to begin building and soldering the project. I wish you could see the JOY they receive when they hook-up their project to power and see the lights flash and the music play.
Because of your support, I will be able to teach over 100 student show to solder. They will have fun soldering project kits that they can build and show their families how they completed the project. These project kits take students several days to finish in class and you would be amazed to see how engrossed they are when they start the project. These types of activities and projects students certainly help motivate students and their learning!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma State Department of Education.Ozobot Evo - to rEVOlutionize Student Learning!
Funded Aug 12, 2019My students have been exploring various programming methods with these tiny little robots! They are also developing workshops for elementary students to help motivate and inspire younger students to pursue STEM and robotics!
The students love using these robots and this technology inspires them to explore various learning activities and to be more proactive in their educational pursuits.
My students are grateful for your support and say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH! We love using and programming the Ozobots!"”

Funded Dec 17, 2018With your donation, you helped to fund the purchase of a Dremel DigiLab 3D45 printer! With this printer, my students have been able to take their ideas that they have drawn in Autodesk Inventor (Computer Aided Design [CAD] software) and print them on this new 3D printer.
For my robotics team, students designed attachments and other parts to be incorporated into the robot they built and they were able to print their parts in various colors! In my pre-engineering classes, students designed automata boxes with various creative designs and moving parts and they were then able to print various parts on the 3D printer.
Thank you so much for your support of my classroom!”

Making Kids FIRST!
Funded Aug 22, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity to support our efforts to expand robotics programs for elementary students! As a result of your donation, we were able to purchase an additional Lego Mindstorm kits and accessories and expand our robotics teams to include additional students.
This year we had two teams involving 20 students. The two teams are mentored by high school robotics team members. They meet every Friday afternoon to work on team building activities and design and program a Lego robot to complete complicated tasks. The teams just finished a competition at the University of Tulsa and one team placed FIRST in the Core Values event. In this event, the students create a presentation and poster that communicates how they embody the core values of FIRST robotics (teamwork, friendly competition, learning is more important than winning, sharing with others, etc...) and they must work as a team to solve a specific challenge that is given to them in the judging room. The students work together without any adult intervention and they are graded by a panel of judges.
Thank you so much for your support of robotics education in Grove, Oklahoma!”

STEM Stuff for Super Students!
Funded Jun 1, 2016This project has provided my high school students with great tools they can use to explore electronics. With the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, students are getting experience using cutting-edge graphing technology that will be used in higher-level math, science, and engineering classes.
Students are using the Arduino robotics and accessories to explore digital electronics and programming. With the Arduino products, students not only get to build a little robot, but they learn how circuits work and how to program the circuits using the Arduino programming language.
With the ever changing world of technology that surrounds us today, it is important that students learn to be "creators" and active users of the technology to explore and solve problems. Too many students today are simply consumers of technology and my goal is to equip students with skills through hands-on activities so that they can be the inventors of the future.
Thank you for your assistance in funding this project!”

Mrs. Smith
