My students are hard working leaders from the South Bronx. Many can't afford simple school supplies so this will definitely allow them to have a successful school year! They come from low income households where parents, no matter what they want to donate, they can't afford it financially. My goal is to help them as much as possible so that parents feel less stressed on what their child doesn't have. Pencils will be used to write great On Demand stories during Writers Workshop, and to work on our Math. The supplies will help them work individually and in groups throughout the entire school year.They will allow them to draw and express themselves and will allow them to create amazing art work using crayons and brightly colored paper so that our class room pops with happiness! Hand sanitizer and tissues will allow them to help eliminate germs especially during our cold Winter months where we spend extra time together as a class, and prevent excessive absences so that it doesn't take away from their learning. With having the supplies, they could focus on their academics and excel as future leaders!
