Funded May 9, 2023This project was a huge success for our special learners and for all that got to play with our play items that was donated! We would like to thank our special donors who made this possible. The smiles and interactions while using the special games and balls created a community of friendships and bonds to make play time fun and safe.
We had a kindergarten student who was terrified of playing with others. He would stay with an adult most of his recess, holding the adult's hand. When our supervision team brought out the new "soft" balls, this student would be so afraid to ask someone to play with him. When I gave him an extra ball for him, other children asked him to play with his ball, and he felt instant love and wanted to share. He felt important and he was not scared of getting hurt because the ball was soft. Now, he rarely holds an adult's hands and he is playing with his kindergarten friends and laughing along the way. It was such a beautiful transformation of how he felt, just with that "soft ball."
Many other stories, like this, including a student with autism who had others approach him and teach him how to throw the ball. He now says he has friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS.”
With gratitude,
